Tyler Thigpen don't NEED no mother****in' progressions.

Seriously?

There were two question marks in my post. I asked because I seem to remember that but I wasn't sure. I still vaguely recall that Elway struggled in his rookie year. At least the first several games.

I think he meant are you seriously comparing Stanzi to Elway?

lol reading through progressions isnt impressive its something they teach in high school. its only impressive when youve had chiefs qbs

I meant no comparison. There was an "even" factor here. As in "even" the great horse-face struggled in his early NFL games.

Elway obviously went on to successfully prove his potential as an elite NFL QB, but I'm pretty sure he initially did not show the poise that our 5th rounder is showing in HIS first couple of games.

They may end up having gone the opposite directions in their careers when it's all said and done. AND I will not discount the pressure Elway had to deal with as the first player drafted, but one has to be encouraged by Stanzi's apparent poise under pressure.

Meh, Sheffield should have raised his arms.
;)

There are actually a couple times Houston gets to the QB this preseason and goes straight for the waist.

He needs to attack the QBs arms like Hali does, and he'll create 5 fumbles this year.

What a talent. Seriously.

Direckshun 09-01-2011 10:34 AM

I also feel like you guys are getting me unjustly pumped for Ricky Stanzi.

:D

There's no such thing as being 'unjustly' pumped for Dick Stanzi.

Viewing him as anything less than the 2013 Super Bowl Champion is the only true injustice that can come of the Dick Stanzi experience.

the Talking Can 09-01-2011 10:53 AM

that's good stuff from sheffield, from both sides of the line

Bowser 09-01-2011 10:54 AM

Gee, think we're going to run a ton of zone blitz this year?

Pants 09-01-2011 11:22 AM

Hitting a receiver in stride... what a concept.

I'm not hating on him. Everyone around here is so desperate for the Chiefs to draft and develop a QB on their own that they get ultra-excited about some run of the mill play. Two looks and a two yard out pass is routine.

I know that C.E. spent time working on the gif and defends his observations and subsequent work. I know that the bulk of you are awestruck that a Chiefs draft pick at the quarterback position is actually playing a game, whether that be pre-season or not. However, the play that was highlighted is nothing more than routine.

And I'm glad that the Chiefs picked up Stanzi. I liked the guy and thought he'd be a good fit for the team. I'm not going to gush superlatives on him for what was a play that you see from every quarterback from high school and on.
