The other thing that surprised me about this girl, other than her never having heard of Hostess cupcakes, ding dongs, twinkies, ho ho's etc..... is that she's of African-American decent... I didn't know there were any black people in western Kansas.

There are a few, the college dorms in Garden City and Dodge City have quite a few but mostly those two citys are full of mexicans & border jumpers.

It is kind of cool, in fact, very cool, but I wouldn't want to live there either. You really get spoiled driving out there, knowing what you are approaching for quite a distance.

You learn something new every day. Her name was Kelly Green but she was (and likely still is) black.

There's a spot on Hwy 35 between Hiawatha KS and St. Joe MO where you come to the top of a hill before heading downhill and back up and from the top of one hill to the point you can see at the top of the next is 3.5 miles. I reset my trip meter once because I always wondered. I think that's the longest I've seen in Kansas.

Well cool, have you ever eat at Bruces country kitchen? Small bar & grill in Hanston.

I've never traveled further west in Kansas than Manhattan.
