Nope. I've never once mentioned Flowers. Sorry.

Quite frankly, I'm not that worried about replacing their production. I'm more worried about getting some production out of a non-existent secondary and not interested in paying exorbitant sums to people that can't fix that.

Everyone wants to address the secondary. We can't do that without nuking the front 7?

Honestly...

Dee Ford is a dumb**** who cost us the AFC title this year.

Justin Houston is old and no longer the player that we are paying him to be.

Eric Berry is old and no longer plays at all.

Trade/Cut them all and let Spags start over. We were 31st last year so it's not like we can get much worse. This defense needs a complete cultural makeover from top to bottom. Tired of soft/injured players. Get some hard hitting mother****ers in here that want to win a championship.

That’s a very concise, succinct way of saying what I came here to say.

I’ll leave it at that.

I agree we ideally keep either Ford o Houston next season which means Ford, but again if you get good compensation for him you take it while you can.

Sure. I don’t think it’s arguable to cox and graham are pretty well regarded pass rushers, no?

In any even, even if they let Ford walk, unless they get big seasons out of Soeaks or something Jones can’t do it all.

One could argue that Jones was as successful as he was because of the outside pass rush threat.

Take that threat away and make it easy for the offense to decide who they'll double? No thanks.

You need at least 1 guy who can pressure from the outside to compliment your interior rush.

Giving Dee Ford a Justin Houston-esque contract at the end of a tag year is like purposefully shooting yourself in the dick.

There is literally nothing dumber in all of defensive football that could occur. In any era, in any universe, in any galaxy.

Apparently not.

Dee Ford is better than Khalil Mack!

It's a gamble either way. If Ford lays down two consecutive seasons of excellent play, his value will be higher than ever.

Sure, he'd cost more to resign if the Chiefs choose that route. Or possibly someone develops (such as Speaks or Kpasso) and you can get even more in a trade.

Or

He flames out and you're looking for a rusher in 2020, but at least you're not married to an inflated contract.

Well to be fair you have to whole draft to fix the secondary

If the draft can’t fix the secondary I don’t know how anyone can expect it to pick up the pass rush with ford and Houston gone

It can’t be one but not the other

They don't even have enough warm bodies to FIELD a secondary let alone have a talented one. They'd have to hit on EVERY draft pick AND get help in FA to even be mediocre at this point.

Don't forget the $16M that he takes with him, the free agents that weren't signed because of it, and another year of "there's always next year".

****ing stupid.

LMAO Ford was a rotational player his first 2 years. When he got to play significant snaps he had 2 seasons with 10+ sacks and didn't play much of the other due to injury. Ansah also has a season on him.

Yes, this defense CAN get worse. People need to realize that.

I have faith in Veach and Reid.

I have no idea where faith in Spags comes from. That dude has fielded 31st ranked D's before. He's not some savant who can turn chicken shit into chicken salad.

I'll chalk that up to offseason hope.
