I’d be ok moving on from Spags as long as an upgrade is available. I know it’s not going to be popular, but I’d LOVE to have Fangio be our DC…or the titans DL coach.

RunKC 01-31-2022 01:02 PM

Get ready for a complete renovation of the defense guys. Veach is gonna have lots of money.

Currently have $14 million per overthecap
Clark+Hitchens cut=$27.9 million
Tyreek extension=lowered first year cap, lot of savings

Oh and this too. Goddamn Veach and Tillis killed this Mahomes deal LMAO

At some point you have to stop touching the Mahomes deal though. You’re going to end up ****ing yourself down the road.

I’m going to be honest here. I think Veach should go ALL IN for the next 2 seasons. I’m not saying going all in like the Rams but he should be doing something.

Think about it. Kelce turns 33 this year. Tyreek and Jones turn 28. Those are 3 of your best players. They are in their prime now. Patrick is just now entering his too. You also have no idea about Andy. He’s 63 and vastly overweight. Anything could happen with him.

We’ve got an extra 3rd rd pick the next 2 years, so we have ammo. Wanna trade a 2nd for a damn good player that is young? I’m down for that. Backload the contract. Wanna use one of those 3rd rd picks to move up in the first? Alrighty.

Melvin Ingram want to come back? No prob. 2 years. Let’s go hard after Von Miller, DJ Chark, Emmanuel Ogbah. Get those guys. Maneuver the cap and backload it.

The Chiefs era we’ve seen will start looking different in 2 years. After that you clear money and pay your young studs like Sneed, Gay, Bolton, Creed, Smith.

You can also "go all in" by simply drafting well. Bolton, Humphrey, and Smith were "going all in" by getting immediate impact players in the draft that are cost-controlled for years.

RunKC 01-31-2022 01:08 PM

Not worried about that. Patrick seems wise enough to know his deal can hamper his chances of winning. I think he’ll work with us to keep our cap healthy.

Remember this Mahomes deal was planned out almost 2 years before it was done. I think Veach and Tillis know what they’re doing here

Pretty sure it was done to have this done every year. So I think it's probably fine?

O.city 01-31-2022 01:28 PM

You've gotta get another pass catcher somewhere.

Pass rushers, get as many as you can.

staylor26 01-31-2022 01:29 PM

Man, I don’t know how some of you are already talking about the offseason LMAO

I’m so sick today I don’t even want to think about free agency and the draft.

You're only screwing yourself the way the Saints did, meaning it'll all hit when we're losing guys like Kelce and Hill, Reid retires and we're forced to rebuild anyway.

I'd much rather try to win as much as possible now when he have 3 Hall of Famers on offense and a Hall of Fame head coach. I'm guessing that's how they're looking at it.

MahomesMagic 01-31-2022 01:30 PM

We need to go all in for the next 2-3 seasons.

After that when we finally lose one of Kelce or Hill we need to then reset for a year or two and get super cheap.

So our window is open for 2-3 more years where we need to push all cards in.

Yup, exactly.

If all in means trading away draft picks.....then I'm out. This team is already bare next season when it comes to players under contract. We need more young, cost controlled talent.

Reid and Mahomes are always going to have you competing. Just start building that defense and get another weapon or two for Mahomes.

I think this is what Veach and Tillis envisioned with Patrick’s deal along with others.

The ability to get money from bigger deals to stay competitive in FA while still having draft picks to build youth on your team.

That’s a great winning strategy

We should have signed a #2 WR and Ingram and maybe another pass-rusher this year.

That's what I mean by all in. Total commitment to win now.

The 1st round picks don't need to be traded as we need those to play this year anyway and that's good for now and the future.
