A doctor I know said this is very good news (relative to him having to be resuscitated twice).

Yeah, this is one of those "commas matter" scenarios

There was only one instance at Paycor stadium.

There was only one instance, at Paycor stadium.

We're simply awestruck by the level of support and generosity we've seen over the past two days. With over $6 million raised, this fundraiser has become an overnight reminder of the incredible nature of humankind. Your actions directly reflect the type of human Damar is himself.

As representatives of Damar, the team at Jaster Athletes posted the fundraiser updates and will work with the Hamlin family, The Chasing M's Foundation, and the GoFundMe team to ensure the safe delivery of funds.

Because the situation is evolving, we'll continue to communicate any updates on the fundraiser. We will also work with GoFundMe to email all donors with more specifics regarding the use of funds as those details are available. As you can imagine, this has been a challenging time for the family. We appreciate your understanding as we give them the time and space they need to focus on Damar's health first.

We're hopeful about Damar's future involvement in disbursing the incredibly generous contributions. We thank you again for your support and look forward to updating you along the way.

From what I am told it started at around 12K and has exploded since then

Just donated a little. wish it could be more, but right after Christmas is a bad time for me. Fantastic that they've raised so much money though. Hopefully Hamlin will be able to stand in front of a camera with a giant check before too long.

Brother - every little bit counts - no need to wish it was more - it is plenty :)

It's kind of crazy that his foundation has a much higher net worth than he does.

I'll say it since its my field. I sincerely hope they have adequate controls and the right people in place or are at least working towards it. 1200 to 6 mil in 72 hours can be overwhelming and tempting without either.

That said, I hope it keeps pouring in and we ultimately see a feature about it with him in it.

All those multi millionaires and billionaires donating 10 grand is like a Joe Schmo donating a buck

why do people always say this when rich people donate? they never think they give enough…just because they have hundreds of millions doesn’t mean they need to donate 100s of thousands. honestly, they don’t have to donate at all.

The truth is, that they already usually donate millions/yr. It's just spread around to a thousand different causes. And the amounts are usually standardized; just makes it easier to track.
