Just say you don't want to pay Jones and stop with the "I understand the cap stuff" because you don't have any special insight. Maybe you are a "star" with the other dumbasses that have time for your old, blurry thoughts.

LMAO

Is calling me old repeatedly supposed to hurt my feelings, or something?

You're repeatedly wrong. I'm occasionally wrong, and freely admit when I am.

But I'm right more than not.

Veach's job is to build a championship caliber team. He's done that, every year, and in different ways every year.

One thing he's not done is sign an over 30 player to a top of the market deal.

I guess they extended Thuney. That's a long way from Jones money.

We'll see.

Maybe the bye week gets him rested up and he's back to the shit****ing force we're used to.

It's tough to evaluate since his role is often just to draw double-teams and let the other guys work. But yeah, he's not really even in the DPOY discussion at this point, which is problematic for a guy wanting the money he's asking for.

There was an old bull and a young bull sitting on top of a hill.

The young bull said "Let's spend a bunch of money on Chris Jones and win another Super Bowl!"

And the old bull said "Let's be smart about who we give big money to and win them ALL".

I'm with the old bull.

I'd love J Sneed to retire a Chief and see his name in the Chiefs ROH.

Rain Man 11-18-2023 08:38 AM

I let other people handle the money discussions now, so I'll just say that I think Sneed is awesome and I really would like to see him as a Chief for life on the field. He has the potential to challenge Albert Lewis as my favorite Chief cornerback ever.

The Chiefs only have 5 draft picks. That's the least amount of draft capital they've had since 2002.

That's not how to keep a dynasty going. They need picks and they'll need money for future years.

THIS! Draft picks are what fuel our continued legit shot at SB's. This is the only way to sustain this success. We have to hit on draft picks.

At this point, I think the best course of action is to extend Sneed for 3 years and tag/trade CJ95.

2nd contracts of proven top CB's is almost always great contracts for the team.

So you think the NFL values Sneed over Jones? :doh!:

You know who actually helped win the SB last year? Not you, Chris Jones was a critical piece.

Now your point that you think Jones is done soon is fair, should have just said that instead of "can't afford him" which is not accurate but instead I don't want to pay for a player that could rapidly decline.

Thankfully you are not the GM of this team because your strategy of team building is utterly awful. You must be a product of this younger Madden generation.

The reason KC was able to get away with paying Jones well was because they drafted well. This team is augmented by these players all on rookie contracts:

Sneed
Jaylen Watson
McDuffie
Cook
Joshua Williams
Karlaftis
Danna (I believe)
Gay
Bolton
Chenel
Trey Smith
Pacheco
Rice
Toney

These guys are going to want to get paid when the time comes and the simple reality is that paying Jones $30+ million a year in his early 30s when history shows a significant drop off around that age is not wise as doing so costs some of the above players, especially with Mahomes’ top of the market contract.

Sure in Madden you can turn off the cap and it all works out, but not in real life. Is Jones getting $27 million or so right now? Yup. KC was able to do it because of all the above rookie contracts. I would love to keep Jones in KC for his whole career, but he has to be realistic and if not let him walk and someone else can pay him. No player on the team (outside of Mahomes) is bigger than the team. That’s not dinosaur thinking, that’s just reality.

Your top “strategy” is trying to dress yourself in the AM.

You’re on the level of Diqlicks as far as brain power.

We don’t win the SB last year without paying Thuney,Kelce, and Jones so glad Veach didn’t adopt your maxims last season.

RunKC 11-18-2023 10:30 AM

Chiefs will have around $52 million of cap space next Spring. That will be $62 million after MVS is cut.

Tag Chris for half of that and then get a WR and bring some guys back. Also pay Creed, Sneed and Bolton and let's go another run.

What are you even talking about?

Jones was on his second deal signed in his mid twenties. I'm trying to explain to you that signing your good players to second deals in their twenties is a better bet than signing top of the market third contracts to guys over 30.

Whatever maxim you think I have is obviously your cognitive issue.

You sign Jones, you have to let Sneed and Bolton and Gay walk, and you probably don't have a left tackle. You think that's the way to go. I don't.

In 2024, here is your list of important free agents:

Jones, Sneed, Gay, Danna, Tranquill, Edwards, Wharton, Nnadi. Or, if you like, about half of your defense.

Donovan Smith, Hardman, Clyde (lol) on offense. You don't have to do Bolton, Creed and/or Smith yet, but you will next year.

$62m ain't nearly enough. Jones plus $30m is going to be laughably short. I really don't think it's the way to go. That's a LOT of guys on their way out if you do it.

And we've only got 5 draft picks at the moment.
