Can he in any way help the safeties situation?

Because they were God awful last night.

Time will tell, but they didn't have much choice. The Chiefs are like a MASH unit this year.

I like the move even without the injuries that proceeded it.

Can’t have enough depth in the secondary.

Yes.

Charmarri Conner blows right now because he is being asked to play slot and can't.

Nelson playing means McDuffie can go back to the slot.

Really good move. Give him a two practice weeks to ramp up and hopefully he can play against his old team the Texans. Having him means we're gonna at least have two steady, reliable guys on the boundary and hopefully Trent can be freed up to do his thing and roam. Plus he's a guy who can take the ball away which could be a huge bonus moving forward.

Hope that is the plan. BUT wont that just create another problem on the outside?

Steven Nelson has been a legitimate starting corner for the last several years. Not elite, but solid to good.

He and Josh Williams outside with McDuffie inside is a pretty damn sticky trio, MUCH better than putting Nazeeh outside or Conner in the slot.

Okay. This might do something positive.

MUCH better. Nazeeh is small and barely has any experience playing in the NFL (he was mostly a special teams player before he got injured) and Connor was never a pure slot gut In college. So having two normal corners on the boundary who have lots of experience should hopefully garner way better results.

Why has he remained unsigned through December?

Other teams were saving him for us.

Yeah, if this gets Connor out of the slot, it's worth experimenting with.

Especially if it frees Connor up to play a little more in a pure FS role, where I think he really could excel.

probably not a bad signing even though he talked shit about Chiefs fans. One more injury to a CB and it's probably bad.

Exactly!

LAst year he was one of the best corners in the NFL in press coverage. Which is what we do.

Was more about that scheme he was in. He's clearly really good in press coverage. He graded out better than Sneed last year. I mean take that for what it's worth but he's a clear upgrade in that department over what we have now, depending on how fast he gets up to speed.
