One thing that I think might happen that could really hurt the Chiefs, is a team saying we will sign you to a huge deal right now. We don't need to see you throw or anything. Right now.

True that.

Known teams that have expressed interest in Manning: AZ, SEA, WSH, DEN, MIA. Surely more to come. HOU has not, FWIW. Like Schaub. Figures |

Of course, there were only 3 destinations and they were completely pre-determined. Not only that, but they had LT talk about the Jets, Michael Irvin talk about Miami (and how good of friends he is with fellow Hurricane alum Reggie Wayne), and ****ing Matt Millen talking about Washington. Millen was at least honest - he had this look on his face the whole time that just screamed "he ain't ****ing signing with the Redskins, you guys suck". |

I just read this deal about Dungy claiming that the Tacks had a bounty on Manning. Apparently, that defensive bounty dude worked for the Tacks at the time.
I don't know what that has to do with anything, but I thought it was interesting. FAX |
After watching the presser. I gotta say...Luck is going to get treated like shit by the players and some fans for sure. Not his fault, but displaced anger.

I don't really care what ESPN says about it. It's not like Tom Condon has to lie to drum up the price. Everybody knows it's going to be an all-out war to win PM's services.
If I'm Pioli, I pick up the gum wrapper off the floor, call Condon and say this: "Look Tom, I know today was an emotional day for Peyton and he may need some time to clear his head and figure things out. I get that. But when he's ready to think about the future and ready to start looking for a place to play, I guarantee you he will not find another place that will adore him, pay him, put weapons around him, and give him everything he needs to hoist another Lombardi Trophy like the Kansas City Chiefs. So just tell me when and where to send Clark's plane so we can get this done." |

If I were Peyton Manning, I might consider organizing an auction broadcast live on national television. It could be like that Bachelor show, or something.
Pioli could bring flowers and speak in low, meaningful tones about how tidy our stairwells are. FAX |
The broncos won't have a top rushing team if Tebow isn't the qb so that would be an irrelevent attraction. However, we can offer Jamaal "6.4 ypc" Charles

Top ranked run game for Denver?
Where? Moreno sucks and Willis can't be depended on. The reason they had a good run game last year was because of the gimmick offense. The Denver run game sucks. |
According to NBC Miami, Manning is in Miami. A flight carrying Manning landed at Opa-Locka Executive Airport, and he then got into a van. (We’ve yet to determine whether Brad Childress was driving.)

Would be nice to hear Miami and Arizona were eliminated. I suppose we will learn a lot in the new 10 days or so in regards to Arizona. Isn't Kolb's bonus due on the 17th? |

I wouldn't hold my breath on the 13th. I think a couple of weeks is more realistic. |
Speaking of workout...
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...yton-workouts/ Next step for Peyton: Workout(s) So Peyton Manning is a free agent, perhaps the biggest name to hit the open market in league history. So what’s next, apart from the perfunctory speculation on the teams that may be interested? (It’s on my to-do list to do just that.) Before anyone will sign Peyton Manning, he’ll need to show that he can throw. And if he hopes to find a new team before the game of musical chairs known as free agency commences, he’ll need to get some workouts scheduled. Manning’s camp knew that he’d most likely be cut this week. Thus, like a free agent who somehow has a plane ticket in his hand the moment the market opens, why hasn’t Manning already lined up his first visit? The fact that no visits have been reported or announced is prompting speculation among some league insiders that, notwithstanding last week’s Zapruder film, he doesn’t yet have the ability to throw the way he needs to throw in order to get teams to throw money at him. If this process doesn’t move quickly, that speculation could have some merit. |
Lovely.
We'll have weeks of this $3it... |

I want this over tomorrow. But realistically it won't be that quick. Depends on how soon he is ready to workout. Whether it will be one workout for everyone, or private individual workouts. And how many visits he goes on vs. doing meetings over the phone... |

So are the Chiefs willing to bring in Wayne with Manning?
|

The one good thing a team like KC has going for them, if you believe they actually will try to get him, is that Peyton thinks things through. He certainly is going to want money, but I think he is so determined to win as both a competitor and to prove the doubters wrong that winning will just count for nearly everything.
Teams can throw him a parade, give him hookers, blow him whenever he calls....when he is done enjoying all of that, he is going to make a smart decision. I think KC would be one, but I am biased. Maybe being a Chiefs fan it helps me see how talented they are or maybe I am seeing more than there is. Either way, atleast we know this guy isn't going to be sold with bells and whistles. That is unless you are talking about bells and whistles that are used on a football field. In that case we have plenty. I will say it again, if, and it obviously is a monster if, the Chiefs make a real play for him, I think they have to be at the very top of the list. If all 5 or 6 major players for him offered roughly the same amount and gave roughly equal pitches, I think KC is at the top of the list with all the rest of the things he will be looking for. Living enviornment, roster, division, crowd, media, and conference. It all comes down to the effort the organization puts out, although that may be the worst news for us Chiefs fans to hear. |

Miami knows it can sit back and let the other teams do the basic negotiations, get word of workouts and medical evals and then go in at the end and still have the upper hand.

http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2012/3...manning-rumors
Another 'Chiefs Have A Shot At Peyton Manning' Report There are a million different reports with a whole bunch of different teams as the front-runner for Peyton Manning as he enters day two of his free agency. We could link to a bunch of different ones. Instead we'll link to the one that has the Kansas City Chiefs as one of the leading candidates. Here's what Omar Kelly of the Sun-Sentinel down in Miami tweeted out: UNLESS there's some darkhorse team (Denver?) sneaking it, it appears the hunt for Peyton Manning will come down to three teams. Miami, Arizona and Kansas City. Why Kansas City? I have no idea, but that's the word. Kelly is coming from Florida so it's not a bad guess that his source is from the Dolphins. And the Dolphins have probably been talking to Manning. In other words, there are reasons to believe this. Then again, other reports say the Broncos are in the mix. And other reports say the Jets will make a serious offer. And even more reports say the Seahawks are willing to go all-in for him. So, who knows? But Manning in KC sure does sound good to me. |
