I'm lookin for a good wedding song for my future bride and I. So far I like Reba and Vince Gills "The heart won't lie" you posted awhile back. Any others?

That's a fine choice. I'll submit these for your approval...

I'll Still Be Lovin You- Restless Heart
Make My Life With You- Oak Ridge Boys (complete with wedding bells at the end)
From This Moment On- Shania Twain & Bryan White

I could make a longer list and will if you want but those songs always meant a lot to wedding partys I've played for. I'll post vids in case you don't know them.

Dr. Johnny Fever 09-02-2012 12:13 AM

I'm not sure there's a better bride and groom song than this.

Congratulations man... she's beautiful. You find a girl like that you can love and who loves you back... major score.

I'll post more just give me time.

I'm interested to know what others think about this song. It's decidedly not country in it's rock sound... is in it's lyrics. As hard as it is it's moving up the country charts at a decent clip.

Brantley Gilbert "Kick It In The Sticks"

I hate because I thinks it's stupid... not because it's loud. I like loud although not loud country so much. It's easily the most requested song we have right now. Brantleys first 2 singles were both hits... first went to #1, other top 5. This is a lot harder than both. Just curious what others thought so thank you.

Dr. Johnny Fever 09-08-2012 11:12 PM

Oh and Lumpy I don't think it's vocal distortion he just sings that way. I believe he's been constipated for years probably. A good poop and he might sing opera.

I couldn't even make out the lyrics. Something about midgets drinking all of their beer and pissing on the front seat of someone's Jeep?

Close enough. He grunts through everything 80's hairband style. I'm guessing Jon Bon Jovi is his hero.

I'm not saying this is my new favorite song of all time.......... but I'm not saying it's not.

The Oak Ridge Boys "Before I Die" from their latest album "It's Only Natural." Lead vocals by William Lee Golden (the long bearded one)

It's just beautiful imo. I've been told I'm an old soul. I take that as a compliment.

One of the great under-rated songs imo. When I mobile dj'd back during this time it was always a good one for the wedding party if they didn't pick their own.

Oak Ridge Boys "Make My Life With You"

Damn there was some good stuff I missed on page 56

Dr. Johnny Fever 09-20-2012 11:01 PM

Miss Jimmy Ibbotson... lead singer. What a great song.

Way back in my memory there's a scene that I recall
Of a little run-down cabin in the woods
Where my daddy never promised that our blue moon would turn gold
But he laid awake nights wishin' that it would.

When the world was on our radio, hard work was on our minds.
We lived our day-to-day in plain dirt fashion,
With ol' overalls and cotton balls all strapped across your back
Man, it's hard to make believe there ain't nothing wrong.

But momma kept the Bible read and daddy kept our family fed,
And somewhere in between I must have grown
Cause someday I was dreamin' that a song that I was singin'
Takes me down the road to where I want to go.
Now I know, it's a long hard road

Sometimes I remember when I stay up late at night,
When the sun-up came, we got up and went
In the shadows of a working' day, our moonlight hours spent
Singin' songs along with grandma's radio.

Now I'm beatin' down a ol' blacktop road, and sleepin' in a sack,
Livin' up my memories all in vain
'cause those city lights ain't all that bright, compared to what it's like
To see lightning bugs go dancin' in the rain.

Momma played the guitar then, and daddy made the saw blade bend,
And raindrops played the tin roof like a drum.
But I just kept on dreamin' that a song that I was singin'
Takes me down the road to where my name is known.

Now I'm gone, and it's a long hard road
Yes, I know, it's a long hard road.

LOL. I changed it to 15 to see which posts you were talking about. It seriously hurts my soul. Change it to 50 and see how you like it. It's like morning coffee. You didn't know what you missing until you had it.

Played that today. We do "free for all Fridays" on my show. If someone requests it and we've got it we'll play it. It's a lot of fun. Always get a nice mix of classics and some southern rock type stuff mixed in with the regular playlist. Never have time to play all the requests.

Of course.

I like the old country music from the 60s, 70s & 80s but a little bit goes a long way. But I never get tired of Willie.

Willie Nelson has to be the greatest country artist ever. I don't think it's even close.

Oh, DJF, I finally heard Truck Yeah!! a couple weeks ago.

Dear god. What an awful production. It makes me hate life. Hard.

It's an assault on everything good and decent about music isn't it? It's the musical equivilent of a frontal labotomy. It's embarassingly bad. I love what I do for a living but songs like that make me wish I would have become a garbage collector so I could throw shit like that away.

Kudos for Lionel Cartwright. I've always thought he was under-rated. "What Kind of Fool" was a great song imo and he has such a pure country voice.

Hell of it is that he will make good money on it.

It's #12 this week. It's now in heavy rotation. Remember I don't program my stations based on personal tastes.

My faith in humanity is pretty shaky right now.

Lets play a little game today. Same songs, different artists. Which is better?

Ragweed

This is the band we've got playing our Halloween party this year.
