Cornerback Brandon Flowers has generated a fair amount of interest around the league since his release from the Chiefs last week and it seems Flowers wants to explore more of what’s out there before settling on his next team. Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego reports that Flowers’ visit with the Chargers came to an end without the two sides agreeing on a contract for the 2014 season. Per Gehlken, the “overall sense” is that the visit went well, although there’s no word on the likelihood that Flowers winds up in San Diego. Flowers is expected to take at least one more visit before signing with anyone. The Lions and Steelers are a couple of the other teams that have been linked with a Flowers pursuit, while the Falcons and Vikings were thought to be in the mix before recent reports pegged them as out of the running for the cornerback’s services. If the Chargers and Flowers do find their way back to one another, San Diego has an open roster spot to fill after parting ways with safety Brandon Taylor on Thursday. |

I'm surprised Brandon hasn't signed anywhere yet. He must want more money than teams are willing to spend.
|
Falcons will get him soon.

Would have been nice to have traded him to 49ers for a pick back, they need a CB pretty bad. I could see him going there

He doesn't have to sign with anybody until around July 15th, before training camp opens. My money is on Atlanta or San Diego.

And based on the lack of visits, it sounds like Flowers isn't getting very many offers to his liking... |

A late addition to free agency is soon expected to pick a new club. Ex-Chiefs cornerback Brandon Flowers looks likely to choose another team “sometime midweek,” according to Jason La Canfora of CBS, who notes that Flowers has “(plenty) of suitors.” The 28-year-old Flowers started 87 games in six seasons for the Chiefs, who released him on June 13. He visited the Chargers last week. Flowers, who has 17 career interceptions, was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2013. According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, 10 teams checked in on Flowers after his release from Kansas City, with the Ravens and Falcons among that group. The question now is whether Flowers makes any more in-person visits with interested clubs. |

I hope Flowers doesn't sign with SD... hoping he goes to an NFC team.
|
Of course he will go to the Chargers...It's the Chiefs way.
December 28 - Arrowhead Stadium...Chiefs down 2 less then a minute to play facing 4 and 5 at Chargers 45. Smith is forced to scramble do to lack of protection and then floats ball towards Bowe...Bowe doesn't come back to the ball...Flowers breaks up or intercepts the pass sealing the Chargers win. Chiefs Planet goes full nuclear meltdown...fingers pointed at O-line sucking, Smith for floating a pass, Bowe not coming back for it, Dorsey for giving up picks for Smith, overpaying Bowe, all the O-line problems and of course letting Flowers go, because we would have had two or three more wins with him on the team. It's is the Chiefs way. |

Obviously we can argue about player selections, but the methodology of prioritizing QB and pass rush (while reducing focus/investment on other positions like CB) is sound. Chiefs invested in pass rush with their first pick in 2014 and reduced their investment in CB with their next pick. I liked Flowers- he was the best CB on the team for years but I'm not sure why people are so upset by his release. CB simply isn't worth that kind of investment in today's NFL. If I didn't object so heavily to the Smith trade, I would have a fair measure of optimism about the direction of the team.

Any word on Brandon Flowers?
|
B-Flow, you are now the enemy. AIDS TREE FIRE DO NOT WANT.
Edit: ANIFREEZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE |
Heh. Doesnt look like teams thought he was that great either.

A one year deal? Sucks for him.
|
With that said, I'd expect him to have a great year. This is his last shot at getting another 3-4 year deal,

Flowers is a really good CB, but he's not in the same league as those guys and they're not that far ahead. I will say this: Nobody really avoided throwing at flowers. It was futile for about a 4 year stretch, but teams continued to test him. |

They know they can get better at the start of free agency when teams aren't as cap restricted, and he probably feels he can play better than he did last season. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I hope he does well and then gets the **** out of the AFC west. I like Flowers. I don't want to hate him. |
Meh lol

Im kinda torn on this one. He was one of my favorite current chiefs....but now he plays for the home town team so i get to see more him.
I know one thing for sure, the Chargers have a better secondary than the Chiefs now. |

Yep, buying that car meant absolutely nothing. Sometimes, it is what it is.

Aside from the obvious Denver signing, this is pretty much worst case scenario for us.

Don't worry; Alex will pick him apart!

@LRiddickESPN: A 1-year deal huh? For a 28 yr. old "Pro Bowl" corner by a team that desperately needs all the corners it can get?
|
Good move by him. Will likely fit that system better than this one and gets to prove himself again. Gets to play us twice and continue to terrorize the Faiders. Since it's San Diego, may he fail miserably.
It is interesting to see that there wasn't much of a market for the guy. Considering how quickly CB's got gobbled up on the free agent market and in the draft, for the guy to get one visit and only a one year contract in a cornerback needy league is interesting. So I guess the vaunted 2008 draft has left us with only Jamaal Charles... |

1 year deals are the norm for vets around this time. We need to see what his contract is worth. |

Chargers have the shortest secondary in the league now. But I think it's a bit improved over last year.

Brandon Flowers done
Quote:
He's been a top 10 CB over the past 4 seasons and now we have to play against him twice a year. He's got extra motivation to give his all against us. The Chargers don't run the same scheme as us and he's auditioning for that last big contract. I wouldn't be surprised to see 2011-ish Flowers this coming season. Probably not quite as good as he was in 2010 but still pretty good. |

I am curious to see what he got from the Chargers because last time I heard they only had about 2 mil of cap room. So it must be incentive laden... |

For what it's worth...

Wow, I thought this guy would have been a hot commodity in free agency and he lands a 1 year deal with the Chargers?!?!
