That true? That's interesting. I know he ran a sub 4.5 out of high school.

This is the 1st time I ever got a pick right. I love this kid even more after watching these videos. It's gonna be epic!

Think so. One of the talking heads the other night, Mel Kiper or someone, said something about how he ran a 4.6 at the Combine, but that CEH said that he knew he wasn't going to run that well because he was still overcoming an injury. I was in the middle of a few things so I was just listening at the time, and I didn't hear what the injury was. But then I read somewhere that CEH ran a 4.5 or sub 4.5 sec 40 in HS, and why would he get slower in college? Not that I'm that concerned with his 40 time. It's his agility and instincts that jump off the screen at me. He's not Barry Sanders of course, but his instincts and lateral agility remind me in some ways of Barry.

I was looking through the channel yesterday and found the 2019 LSU - Oklahoma game and recorded it, thinking I would get a chance to watch him. Turns out CEH was nursing a hamstring in that game and had like three plays. So don't bother with that one.

Was the hamstring the injury he was dealing with at the Combine?

And there's a better than even chance that he's actually faster than that now.

CervezaChill 04-25-2020 06:44 PM

Even in his highlights, he was caught up by defensive players while on the run. But that’s ok, not everyone has to be a track star. What’s even more impressive from his tape is his lateral speed, amazing agility, ability to make the first man miss, and most importantly his ball security.

Or you could be a track star and a two time Doak Walker winner which goes to the best RB in college football.

The scheme will make him look faster than he is. Kareem Hunt was (IIRC) over 4.6 at the 2017 Combine and had multiple long TDs. We've seen similar plays from other backs the last couple of years. That's all scheme. And Edwards-Helaire is more talented than anyone we've had, and is a much better fit for what we do than anyone we've had.

Dante84 04-25-2020 06:57 PM

Having dreams of 2018.

Not only did Kareem run wild, and how fun that was, but instead what it did the opposing defense and how it helped Patrick win MVP while throwing for 50/5,000.

Stop the run? Stop the pass? Blitz? Sit back?

Patrick is going go to another level.

Megatron96 04-25-2020 07:30 PM

You know Andy and co. probably made the right decision when virtually every other fan base is upset by our pick. There are 49ers fans that hate the fact that we got CEH.

Just watch what this kid did vs. Alabama this year and remember it's okay to admit that maybe you are wrong and mayne Brett Veach, Andy Reid and Pat Mahomes know football and what fits this offense far better than you. Do you see that action out of the backfield? Jonathan Taylor cant do that in his wettest dream.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=z4rXEma5RCw

Now just imagine this guy surrounded by Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Sammy Watkins, Mecole Hardman and Patrick freaking Mahomes. CEH is the cherry on top. We are a spread offense. Not a power run team. CEH is the absolute perfect fit.

Okay so we will watch someone here who has a ton of miles on him already that has severe fumbling problems. NO THANKS !!;)

Chiefshrink 04-25-2020 09:03 PM

CEH in watching him has the quick feet of Barry Sanders, the bowling ball power of a Jones-Drew, the route running and hands of a Marshall Faulk and the take it to the house ability like Tyreek Hill. This kid has great 'game speed'(ability to kick it in 6th gear in the open field and score regardless of what 40 time is. ).

In 2017 Hunt had 53 receptions and as a group they had almost 100 receptions. RB's catching the ball is a huge part of Reid's offense, always has been.

I imagine they will have close to 100 receptions as a group next year which is why CEH was just the better fit here.

Damein Williams caught 30 passes last season, that's 2 a game, he was the 6th leading receiver.

Hunt averaged 3 catches a game.

You are going to use a FIRST ROUND pick on a RB to catch passes? I get it in the later rounds.

You got it with.....group....so why change that?

Marshall Faulk was catching 80 passes a season, see the difference? Hell, Roger Craig caught 92.

We had a chance to get a bellcow RB who was considered the best in college football. Let Williams catch passes Maybe Taylor can catch passes.

Hell, Jim Brown 2500 yards, 20TD's catching the ball.

I have to disagree slugger.

When have the Chiefs ever used any RB has a big time pass receiver, well? Come on, what Chief RB was brought in to catch passes, well?

No CEH won't be as productive as Taylor is going to be. Check out their HS careers, the NCAA careers, it's all Taylor and not close, well this will be no different.

So you know all about Steve Van Buren, Billy Cannon, Dalton Hillard, Harvey Williams, they should have used Trindon Holliday differently.

Jesus christ, you are still crying about this?

Bottom line:

The best offense in the NFL, that just won a super bowl, just managed to upgrade one of its only weak points exponentially.

Your crying isnt going to change anything

Do you know anything at all about what Westbrook did in college?

Here ya go...

Prior to an outstanding career with the Philadelphia Eagles, Westbrook arguably had one of the best careers for a running back at any level in NCAA history.

A three-time First Team All-America selection, Westbrook rushed for 4,499 yards and 54 touchdowns in his Villanova career from 1997 to 2001, while amassing 2,639 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns, finishing with an extra five scores on kickoff and punt returns. His 9,952 all-purpose yards set an NCAA record in 2001.

Westbrook was the winner of the Walter Payton Award in 2001, given to the nation's most outstanding offensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision. He set five NCAA record during his tenure with the Wildcats, which included 41 school records.

Now how in the hell is CEH better than that?

You are a work of art - I have nothing to say - your sheer dumbassery speaks for it's self. Unreal. I'm sorry, are you Andy Reid? Do you even know how CEH will be used? You really need to just depart and let the rest of us FANS enjoy the moment - did you bitch when the Chiefs WON the Super Bowl? Just curious. Fun fact, Taylor has numerous FUMBLE issues - so sorry you did not get your pick - SEEING WHINNY BITCH in the house!

Mahomes
Hill
Travis Kelce
MH
Watkins
Damien Williams
CEH

What the ****? Can you not see a prolific offense only getting BETTER? I am done with you - crawl back under the rock you were spawned from. I do have something else to add - HE PLAYED AGAINST TOP TIER COMPETITION! IN AN UNDEFEATED SEASON AGAINST THE BEST IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL! What can you POSSIBLY argue? SEC RULES!

You have no concept of context.

Did he play on a team with the #1 overall pick at QB? With two first round WR's? There's only one football, you know. On a National Championship team with perhaps the toughest competition ever? No.

You just look at some stats on a screen and think you see truth. You're wrong.

So you just ignore all the others saying the same thing I am, why? Dude, a lot of people thought it should have been Taylor IF you spend a FIRST ROUND pick, why act like it;s just me?

Am i the only one that feels liek Ubeja is a lot like the white people on 'Get Out'?

MAHOMO 4 LIFE! 04-25-2020 11:01 PM

I was one of your bigger supporters Ubeja but I just can’t defend you anymore. I’d rather read a deberg thread than try and agree with you. I just can’t. I think you’re still a good guy but just not educated on this topic

I have been enjoying the ride since Cotton Davidson and the Dallas Texans. And can still see Jamaal Charles too fast, Christian Okoye too powerful, we could have had that with Taylor.

if you have such a magnificent boner for individual guys why dont you support them on their team. You can have a favorite player on a team thats not your favorite team.

Seen every Chiefs RB since Abner Haynes, yep....educated.

It's going to hurt watching Taylor putting up big numbers as a Colt, not looking forward to it. Knowing there he was we could have had him, yep...pain!

New World Order 04-25-2020 11:11 PM

Ubeja, you're needed in the Broncos News Megathread

GOD, you so don't get it - the bottom line is a BETTER offense to said existing weapons. Wow. What is your retort to solidify your displeasure? How can you be so unhappy with this pick?

No I'm not....

Taylor better in HS by far
Taylor better at the NCAA level by far

That's going to change, no it's not.

This is lame....but CEH caught more passes, so ****ing what, he also was FAR less productive. Hey Jonathan we're going to throw ya some passes, BINGO!!!!!!!!!!

Compare what Watson did in college vs what Mahomes did stat wise. No reason to argue anything there. Too close to debate.

Now look at what Taylor did vs CEH, go ahead. Not remotely close, all Taylor.

Honestly guys watch THIS highlight package and tell me this kid isn't incredible???? He's got absolutely EVERYTHING a new age back needs. His agility and stop-start motion is on Barry Sanders/Marshall Faulk level and that is no exaggeration. His receiving skills are also up their with your Kamara's and Mccaffrey's!!!..I mean the kid was lining up out wide and in the slot, and was running REAL receiver routes for God sake :D . I've got a feeling he's gonna be very, very special for this team...maybe better than Kareem tbh.

ThyKingdomCome15 04-25-2020 11:47 PM

JT is a better fit for the Colts. They run that down hill running scheme like Wisconsin. CEH is a better fit for us. He he starred in a much more versatile attack at LSU and is a tremendous route runner out of the backfield. The scheme fit cannot be overlooked.

You make absolutely no sense? Who gives a rats ass about HS? He is being compared to BELL, FREEMAN, SPROLES and WESTBROOK. What is Taylor compared to? #waiting

Makes all the sense in world, Taylor has always been a more productive RB.

Who gives a rat's ass about who anyone is compared to? Gene Vincent was compared to Elvis, I know....who?
