The Packers have now completed their draft. When the draft started, WR wasn't a big need, but then we suddenly had some job openings, hence the two late picks.
1-28. Green Bay Packers - Rain Man - Trey McBride, TE, Colorado State 2-59. Green Bay Packers - Rain Man - Logan Hall, DT, Houston 3-92. Green Bay Packers - Rain Man - Brian Asamoah II, LB, Oklahoma 4-132. Green Bay Packers - Rain Man - Verone McKinley III, S, Oregon 4-140. Green Bay Packers - Rain Man - Joshua Ezeudu, IOL, North Carolina 5-171. Green Bay Packers - Rain Man - Velus Jones, WR, Tennessee 7-229. Green Bay Packers - Rain Man - Jalen Nailor, WR, Michigan State 7-250. Green Bay Packers - Rain Man - Reed Blankenship, S, Middle Tennessee 7-259. This guy's gonna probably go undrafted due to off-field concerns (several of them, in fact) but this late in the game, who cares?
Jack Jones, CB - Arizona State I could really see the Chiefs looking his way. Really strong possibility as an NCB and hybrid player, especially if he can add a little weight. There's a DE and a TE I also like quite a bit here but if I were the Bucs sitting this deep in the 7th I'd take my chances on the high value position and a 3rd/4th round talent who slipped due to off-field issues. |
So with that, my squads are a rap:
NYJ Haul: #4: Evan Neal, OT, Alabama #8: Travon Walker, EDGE, Georgia #35: Andrew Booth Jr, CB, Clemson #38: Jahan Dotson, WR, Penn State #69: Tariq Woolen, CB, UTSA 111: Calvin Austin III, WR, Memphis 117: Darrian Beavers, LB, Cincinnati 146: Dohnovan West, IOL, Arizona State 163: Matthew Butler, DT, Tennessee That's a BUNCH. And it's gonna score well, IMO. Still don't love the Dotson pick but a fan of the rest. Tampa's picks: 27: Zion Johnson, G - Boston College 60: DeMarvin Leal, DL - A&M 91: Kenneth Walker III, RB - MSU 133: Rasheed Walker, OT - PSU 249: Zamir White, RB - UGA 262: Jack Jones, CB - ASU Just not enough draft capital to do too much damage. I took Walker before Fournette signed so I probably should've gone a different direction there (especially with White falling). I probably should've actually snaked Austin away from the Jets or Dulcich away from the Ravens. So yeah - don't love the Kenneth Walker pick. I'm pretty sure Logan Hall going the pick before Leal is gonna hurt quite a bit. Leal may actually end up falling into the late 3rd with as little buzz as there is around him. It's an okay draft. Nothing spectacular. I just never felt like it came together as well as I'd hoped it would. |
With the way we’ve scored these in the past, I might add to it and compare the difference in slots to draft value to determine surplus draft point value this year. It might take a little longer but will give an even better measurement over simply the slots they were drafted in.

Wow, here at the last pick already

The 49ers select Luke Tenuta, OT, Virgina Tech |

Browns
1.13: Garrett Wilson, WR, Ohio State 2.44: Arnold Ebiketie, EDGE, Penn State 3.78: Quay Walker, ILB, Georgia 3.99: Bryan Cook, S, Cincinnati 4.107: Zachary Carter, DT/EDGE, Florida 4.118: Joshua Williams, CB, Fayetteville State 6.202: Neil Farrell Jr., NT, LSU 7.224: Dawson Deaton, IOL, Texas Tech University 7.247: Lecitus Smith, OG, Virginia Tech Pretty happy with how this turned out, but the Watson trade half way through our draft obviously impacts the Browns draft capital (and what they can do and will do on draft day). The players all are good scheme fits and I think great value at the position I was able to select them. Steelers 1.20: Tyler Linderbaum, OC, Iowa 2.52: Matt Corral, QB, Mississippi 3.84: Martin Emerson, CB, Mississippi State 4.138: Erik Ezukanma, WR, Texas Tech 6.208: Leon O’Neal Jr., S, Texas A&M 7.226: Kellen Diesch, OT, Arizona State 7.242: Eric Johnson, DT, Missouri State Honestly not in love with how this turned out for the Steelers. I talked myself out of Penning and Cross in the first based on popular consensus at the time, since then and their pro days, both have vaulted up the boards. Linderbaum very well could be their pick, but I think OT or stud defender is more likely. I also told myself I wasn’t going to draft a QB going into the draft, but couldn’t resist Coral falling to 52. Taking a QB early then pushed all my other needs a round later where I was always a few picks too late to get the guys I really wanted. If I had a do-over Eric Johnson may be the only one I’d keep. |
According to Dane Brugler, the best UDFA’s available (I claim them all!):
RB, Tyrion Davis-price, LSU - 5th round projection OT, Veridian Lowe, Illinois - 5th to 6th OG, Justin Shaffer, Georgia - 4th to 5th OG, Logan Bruss, Wisconsin - 4th to 5th OG, Thayer Mumford, Ohio State - 4th to 5th OC, Ben Brown, Ole Miss - 4th to 5th LB, Mike Rose, Iowa State - 4th to 5th LB, Jeremiah Gemmel, North Carolina - 5th to 6th CB, Kalon Barnes, Baylor - 4th to 5th CB, Demarion Williams, Houston - 5th CB, Bryce Watts, UMass - 5th to 6th S, Percy Butler, Louisiana - 5th S, Juanyeh Thomas, Georgia Tech - 5th to 6th |
Quote:
And with Coral, I'm pretty sure I had him queued up for the Bucs if he got past you. And ultimately he may be a gainer for you anyway if the Seahawks or Lions are fans of his. Some team is gonna fall in love with that damn 'gamer' tag he has and take him earlier than I would. Happens every season. I'm curious to see what Quay Walker does. I think off-ball backers are going to slide in this draft. Too much emphasis on WR in the off-season and a TON of depth. Watching the market just die for Kyzir White this off-season tells me that teams aren't hard up for backers. But Walker is an intriguing option and a heck of a talent. |
29. David Ojabo- Edge
30. Jalen Pitre- CB Trade 50 for 52, 138, 208 with Pittsburgh Trade 52 for 72, 109,152,153 and 2024 round 4 with Seattle 62. Jalen Tolbert WR 72. Kerby Joseph - S 94. Kellen Diesch-T Trade 103 for 104, 218 and 253 with Rams 104. Jo Jo Dooman - LB Should be able to get 6-8 picks in the 4-6 rounds as well. Graded an A, but probably have too many picks. |
25. Buffalo Bills - Titty Meat - George Karlaftis, EDGE, Purdue
57. Buffalo Bills - Titty Meat - Phidarian Mathis, DT, Alabama 89. Buffalo Bills - Titty Meat - Cam Taylor-Britt, CB, Nebraska 130. Buffalo Bills - Titty Meat - Rachaad White, RB, Arizona State 168. Buffalo Bills - Titty Meat - Yusuf Corker, S, Kentucky 185. Buffalo Bills - Titty Meat - Matt Araiza, P, San Diego State 203. Buffalo Bills - Titty Meat - Big Kat Bryant, EDGE, Central Florida 232. Buffalo Bills - Titty Meat - Dallis Flowers, CB, Pittsburgh State Missed out on upgrading the interior and probably should have grabbed a WR too. Spooky season for the Bills #1 defense last year with White coming back & Von Miller. That defense is deep and talented. Would totally be cool if this was the Chiefs draft. |
Quote:
I like this/your draft overall. I think it would be a win for them. I do wonder if they would go Edge in the first round though even in a clear BPA situation. Last year they took Gregory Rousseau in the 1st and Carlos Basham in the 2nd, and the previous year they took AJ Epenesa with their first pick which was in the 2nd. They’ve invested their last 3 top picks in Edges and it seems like a lot to do that for a 3rd year in a row. My understanding is that they think all 3 are primed to break out and are “hits.” This coupled with Shaq Lawson allowed them to move on from some of their other DEs this off season. All that said, they do really like to rotate their DL to keep everyone healthy and having talent there to avoid the drop off. George Karlaftis certainly would be a big boost to their ability to do that. |

So I guess the oldest gets a 1st round grade with blue chip potential. The Boy is a 3rd rounder who gets pushed into the 2nd due to need and lack of depth at the position and the twin girl is a 2nd round talent with character concerns that make her more of a priority UDFA. Maybe - I'm really not sure I want that kind of personality in my locker room. I'm not sure the organization has the leadership to handle it. |

I got Dawson Deaton to the Browns in the 7th right (wrong pick though).

Green Bay Packers review. The NFL did not like one of my third-round picks at all but generally liked the others a lot. +191 overall, which I think is the first time that I've been over zero in a few years of doing this.
Actual pick Rain man pick Difference 2-55 - 1-28. -27 Trey McBride, TE, Colorado State 2-33 - 2-59. +26 Logan Hall, DT, Houston 3-66 - 3-92. +26 Brian Asamoah II, LB, Oklahoma (undrafted) - 4-132. -131 Verone McKinley III, S, Oregon 3-67 - 4-140. +73 Joshua Ezeudu, IOL, North Carolina 3-71 - 5-171. +100 Velus Jones, WR, Tennessee 6-191 7-229. +38 Jalen Nailor, WR, Michigan State (undrafted) 7-250. -13 Reed Blankenship, S, Middle Tennessee 5-160 - 7-259. +99 Green Bay Packers - Rain Man - Otito Ogbonnia, DT, UCLA |
How'd the Ravens do under Rain Man leadership? Let's look.
In general, we agreed on first three rounds. But after that the NFL had radically different evaluations, leading me to a -211 overall. I'm surprised that the NFL would be that wrong. Actual pick - Rain Man pick - Difference 1-9 1-14. +5 Charles Cross, OT, Mississippi State 2-35 - 2-45. +10 Roger McCreary, CB, Auburn 3-99 - 3-76. -23 David Bell, WR, Purdue 3-103 - 3-100. +3 Leo Chenal, LB , Wisconsin 7-230 - 4-110. -120 Chris Paul, IOL, Tulsa 6-196 - 4-119. -77 Tyler Badie, RB, Missouri 3-80 - 4-128. +48 Greg Dulcich, TE, UCLA 6-220 - 4-139. -81 Kalia Davis, DT, UCF (Undrafted) 4-141. -122 Aaron Hansford, LB, Texas A&M 5-150 - 6-196. +146 Thomas Booker, DT, Stanford[/QUOTE] |

Probably approaching a record. I could've take a UDFA at #1 overall and not been that bad had the rest of the draft broken even. This is comically terrible. Tampa's picks: 27: Zion Johnson, G - Boston College (17 to LAC; +10) 60: DeMarvin Leal, DL - A&M (84 to Pitt; -24) 91: Kenneth Walker III, RB - MSU (41 to Seattle; +50) 133: Rasheed Walker, OT - PSU (249 to GB; -116) 249: Zamir White, RB - UGA (122 to Vegas; +127) 262: Jack Jones, CB - ASU (121 to NE; +141) +188 -97 on balance. The OL Picks just murdered me. -232 on my developmental tackle prospects. When you see Kinnard, something of a consensus 2nd round pick, go all the way in the 5th - you see that the league just didn't give much of a damn about developmental OTs this year. The lesson, as always: Jets gonna Jet. |

LB Terrel Bernard, Baylor #89 +144 Total Value: +24 Given Ojabo tore his Achilles after this AND Denver traded the pick, I'll take it. Most impressed that I pretty much nailed 2 picks to the right team in the right spot. New England 21. OT Trevor Penning, Northern Iowa #19 +2 52. LB Damone Clark, LSU #176 -124 85.
