Before GoChiefs deleted his post... I was going to agree. But, it's not going to hurt anything. And creatine mono is cheap as shit. Just one tub will last you months and costs maybe $40.

I deleted it because clearly he was a victim of exercise industry marketing. At 5g a day if he's not gonna suffer from extra calories, yeah, why not?

Silock 03-28-2010 10:35 PM

Creatine has no calorie content. That's why you should just get the regular powder, and not something with a bunch of other stuff in it. It's all the other stuff that adds calories.

I would take the shoes back. You need to go to a real running store and have your stride analyzed by a pro. It doesn't matter if they're comfortable in the store. What matters is if they give your foot the kind of support it needs (ie giving you more support if you need motion control shoes, you're a pronator, that kind of thing).

No need to load creatine. You take 5g per day, every day.

Also, you just need creatine monohydrate (5g) or Kre-Alkalyn (1.5g). There shouldn't be any extra calories in it.

Something like this:

The shoes aren't an option. They were the best I could do with the money that I had. The creatine I'll take back tomorrow. I completely forgot about the Kre-Alkalyn that you and I had just discussed. I'm going to hit a health store and try to find some capsules like the ones in that other thread. Thanks dude. I knew something seemed off about that.

Mr. Flopnuts 03-28-2010 10:50 PM

How about these?

Just to be clear: You don't have to get the exact shoes they recommend. What you should be aware of is the KIND of shoes you need (kind, not brand). If you need motion control, buy the motion control shoes in your price range. That kind of thing. Amazon.com has a lot of cheap shoes.

Looks good. And just remember: Take it just once per day. No need to dose more than that.

That's another thing I'm wondering about. The bottle and all the reviews are from people who say they take 2 every morning and then an additional after their workout. I just want to confirm that is unnecessary and 1 1500mg capsule a day is plenty.

Cool. I'm sure there's a place somewhere in Seattle. I'll have to do that.

some argue you should take creatine pre workout.

Your lower body will thank you for it, especially when you start running longer distances outside.

You could take it before your workout if you wanted to. The key point is that taking more than 5g of monohydrate or 1.5g of Kre-Alkalyn is unnecessary.
