It doesn't ****ing work that way.

They draft guys they THINK can start. They HOPE can start.

But they can't KNOW. Nobody can. Good God man.

They've drafted guys in teh 2nd round the past few years and openly said "they're projects, they may not be ready for a while".

Stop doing that.

So yeah, if they feel confident enough in a guy to trade that kind of ammo to get him, they'll start him day 1. If they don't, it was a huge failure.

Nothing is a guarantee. Drafting the 6th best LT prospect and expecting him to block the backside of the best QB in the league is a risk.

Trading multiple first round picks for a chance is a much bigger risk. Sorry but it is.

If they want to trade up into the 20's to get someone, fine. But you're still getting a guy that has some warts.

To get one of the best chances, they'd have to trade up into the low teens and that would cost 2 firsts PLUS. At that point, you're getting a guy like Slater who may or may not be better suited as IOL or Darrisaw, who is still raw.

It's just not worth it.

Okay, that's fair.

We were talking about 1st round LT's so I wasn't thinking 2nd round.

Same. Not sure why unless he’s censoring it and lying about it.

You may not think it is.

They might.

Hence my whole argument. If they think Darrisaw is ready to play quick and can be an all pro type LT, trade up there and get him.

It would be better than the RB or CB that you end up trading in two years anyway that you'll pick in teh late first.

And if they're taking a LT in the first or even trading up for one, yeah, he needs to be day one ready.

Otherwise, dont' do it.

They're not trading away a 1st round pick in two years, especially not a CB.

CB is one of the most overvalued positions in football. Having one on a 5-year deal is peanuts compared to the alternatives.

Exactly my point.

I don't see that guy being within reach for the Chiefs, so I wouldn't do it.

Get it now? ;)

Uh, they already did.

Are you seriously going to pretend there were no extenuating circumstances? Like they traded away Marcus Peters because he sucked or something?

You're being extremely disingenuous.

htismaqe 03-25-2021 02:53 PM

If you're going to use a 1 in 1000 outlier like Marcus Peters' emotional problems then you might as well just not have a 1st round pick at all.

Your beloved LT might be a head case too so he's not worth drafting. Nobody would be if that's the case.

Hes an extremely impatient guy when he sees a need. He wanted to trade a first and some picks for Patrick Peterson and 2 firsts for Ramsey a few years ago.

If we move up to get a LT were giving up what we gave for Mahomes.
