Yeah - there's a universe where they stay put in 21 and take Parsons. Then use that '22 1st and 3rd to trade up as we did for McDuffie, and then their 23 pick on Sam LaPorta.

It's impossible to overstate how disastrous that trade was for them.

Yea, they thought they were a QB away and chose wrong.

Can't do it. Roster is too locked in and I don't see Cousins taking $5 million to go to SF.

They have to ride this out for one and probably two more seasons with Purdy. I mean it's not going to work, but the way they've built their roster and their cap pretty much gives them no alternative.

Cap can always be manipulated. Saints have been doing it for years. His pal Sean McVay did it 2 years ago to make Stafford fit in. They can do some Frank Clark type shit that we did to move money around. Kittle is a great example. Restructure and move that money back to 2026. Same with others.

They'll be good and well ****ed for a few years after like the Rams have been, but Kyle isn't getting that much time left with this core.

He's in the conference with no all star QB's except maybe (potentially) Jordan Love. Kirk is a FA and he's wanted him for years.

Time for him to put all those chips on the table

Speaking of Veach and how kick-ass our GM is, this really warms my heart. According to Spotrac, teams with least cap space:

31. Buffalo, $51.8M OVER the salary cap
30. Miami, $51.2M OVER
29. LA Chargers, $44M OVER
28. Denver, $25.7M OVER

17. KC, $22.6M UNDER

Considering the salary of Mahomes and Thuney, that is just amazing.

He sure did...picking 32 and somehow our gap widened between the division AND AFC contenders

If Veach somehow pulls a decent RB or DT out of this draft too then this is an A+. I loved the idea of a WR double-dip but we had too many areas we need to build depth in. Add in an FA vet at LT and this has been as good as any of us could have realistically hoped. I'm honestly looking forward to even seeing the UDFAs

We have definitely gained ground between Cincy and Buffalo this offseason. Simply incredible to have this GM

Already A+ for me bc 6th and 7th round is trash this year with NILs. Veach said it was a huge drop off.

I'm happy this is being talked about because I was just chatting about them with my dad after all this Deebo/Aiyuk and them snagging a WR in round 1.

Not only did that trade screw them, but what exactly are they going to do about Purdy?? He's put up great numbers but that seems to be more of a product of having a Pro bowl player at LT, RB, WR, FB, AND TE. The team is loaded, but are they actually expecting or wanting to pay Purdy top QB dollar and then watch at least 2-3 star players go? Purdy reminds me of a better Alex Smith, but he's not in that top tier list of QB's of which salary he will demand with what he's done for that franchise. Thoughts?

and our roster is stacked. Tough to make the 53 if you are a late pick for the Chiefs this year. Basically getting FA's locked in instead of negotiating for them.

Obviously you never know but I like our draft a LOT better than the Bulls for sure. Best thing about it is it meets immediate needs, builds depth and looks to meet future needs too.

Fair, won't quibble with that at all. Just not ruling out a final flourish!

Actually I keep looking and there's still a LOAD of guys I think could still help us!
