The tide turned when the 49ers traded Charles Haley to Dallas after 1991. What followed were Dallas back-to-back super bowl wins in 1992 and 1993.

Charles Haley was the missing link that completed the Dallas Cowboys. His absence from the 49ers pass rush doubled the impact. The 49ers no longer had a dominant pass rush, and the Cowboys got one.

I remain convinced that the Steve Young would have 3 super bowl rings if George Siefert had not traded away Haley, and Aikman, Emmit and the Cowboys would be an afterthought with just 1 super bowl win in the 90s.

Splitting hairs here admittedly.

Steve, DOES have three super bowl rings.

Just he has only ONE as a starter.

He was on the 88, and 89 teams.

Okay, carry on.

Maybe you, should stop agreeing with me.

I have stayed with my line of thinking throughout. You are the guy who cant decide which side of the street you want to stay on.

He's right. "Game manager" is only considered a bad thing on internet forums. You don't hear coaches or players putting a QB down for being a game manager. Trent Green pretty much summed up the professionals thinking on that subject yesterday.

Why, that's really big of you. You're all class.

heh heh

QB Mark Sanchez has an injured right shoulder and will not play THURS vs. PHI. His status is day-to-day

The way the Alex see-saw usually works is, the supporters come out and gloat after the good weeks, and the detractors come out and bash after the bad weeks.

Alex is assured to have both, so you will see-saw with this back and forth all season.

At least you are standing firm, so you will at least be consistent after all the "bad Alex" weeks and nobody can accuse you of waffling.

Yeah, I've seen this show before. This is just the sequel.

I've stated from the beginning that Axl is what he is:

Enough to make the flame and pit crew in the parking lot get wood. That's it. There will be no championship victories with Axl at the helm. That's good enough for some.

No one can sit here and say it was good.

But people are glossing over the positives, like the fact he led two TD drives. With his arm.

That must be nice.

Troy Aikman -- "Hall of Fame Game Manager". I like it! :thumb:

Not everyone considers game manager a blanket negative.

Aikman is the prototype of all that is well and good about a game manager on a solid team top to bottom.

I'd take Aikman every day of the week over a Favre, or even a Brees, especially on a team like Jimmy assembled.

That was because that team destroyed everyone in the running game.

But Aikman had 300 yards in him when they needed it.

In fact he had 4 300-yard games in the playoffs and they won 3 of them. Should have won the 4th but the 49ers were incredibly lucky.

It was a different era and the Cowboys run game and defense was nails. Aikman didn't have to throw as much. He was absolutely nails in the clutch of the playoffs though. Deadly accurate when he needed to be.
