It was nice to see a KU game for a change. Team got a bit lackadaisical early in the second half and allowed SDSU to get back into the game. That being said, I was impressed by their poise in holding off that surge and stretching out the lead.

Also, I notice that Brannen Greene played well, even on defense. Maybe he's finally coming around. I didn't like Traylor getting so many minutes in the second half, though.

Don't forget Kentucky on January 30.

Ya know, I typically don't like seeing Traylor get so many minutes either, but he had a good game last night and was all over the place providing some energy.

Selden really bailed us out when things were going south in the 2nd half there for a bit, the team clamped down defensively, and that was it for SDSU.

Well coached game from Self overall. He didn't just have the team pound the ball down low repeatedly like they did against Harvard, he opened up the offense to deal with the specific issues SDSU posed. The defense was good as well, although they still allowed too many OREBs.

I read that UC Irvine had the highest line up playing at one time in College Basketball history the other day.

Doug Gottlieb is really pretty good. He does have a pseudo-thing for KU as he was railed on pretty hard by KU students when he played for OSU. And he's had some interesting discussions on the radio over the years that lead to some heated back and forths from KU supporters.... Instead of smoothing it over, he fueled the fire as he loves debate... so a lot of KU folks have him marked.

That and he committed credit card fraud that got him kicked out of Notre Dame. No wonder he and Petro, a Syracuse guy, are convinced EVERYONE in college bball cheats.

One is a criminal, and the other attended school with one of the dirtiest programs in America.

This is also a very fun team to watch, given how well they pass. It's so different from the typical defense-first character of Grind Em Down Bill. Ellis and Mickelson can handle the ball and pass very well for post guys even if they're poor post defenders. Seeing all the open shots being created is a total sea change for us and it's Highly entertaining

PG and SG (or really a 2nd PG) is the biggest strength of this team. I have no idea what you are talking about. We lack post up scorers and a banger down low as of yet. But this is a well rounded team. The great thing about Graham & Mason is we will have them both next year too. Its like having a young player in baseball on their rookie contract for years to come.

I can't stand this backcourt.

At all.

There is a lack of consistency and stability on both ends of the ball. It's not a smoothly running offense and both of those guys are the reason why.

It's been my least favorite KU team to watch play during the Bill Self era.

The backcourt is the team's strength. A rather significant strength too.

When they bring in their regular 7 footers for Mamadou, they look tiny in comparison. Should try to push the pace a lot in that one to limit the impact of their size.

Oh yeah. That team's looking much weaker than anybody expected (but I suppose that's the cost of such turnover, they can't be Davis or Towns types every year). They rely almost completely on Jamal Murray to score right now.

Prison Bitch 12-23-2015 08:22 PM

Buddy Hield has hit 4-4 from deep in the first 5 min tonite vs HI. He's unreal offensively. They may be the best team in the country. They're shooting 47% from deep (3rd nationally) and have tons of upperclassmen

This backcourt on the Jayhawks is as good as it has been since 08. Mason isn't as good as Collins or Taylor but he is close.

Go find some Connor Teahan video and tell me you don't like this backcourt.

Agreed. Unfortunately I think we will see a lot of Lucas. Hopefully we will see a lot of Diallo.
