What? What is wrong with crediting the Special Teams unit for a special teams play?

Without the 2 disastrous Alex Endzone INT's, KC is 12-2 and tied for 1 seed

You guys are ****ing obsessed with the regular season.

The only thing that matters is that, other than some fluke like playing vs Houston, we will have the worst QB on the field in every single game we play. And because of the way the NFL has changed, the only thing that really matters these days is how good your QB is. To win in any other way -- e.g. fluky special teams big plays or a historically dominant defense -- is the exception to the rule.

Gotta' love that "fantasy football"-defense; the ultimate tap-out when reason and logic kick your ass.

The defense shouldered more blame in the TB game. ESPN, PFF clearly showed Smith was effective when the ball was in his hands. His INT with 11 minutes left wasn't the nail in the coffin, the defense had two different series to hold the Bucs but they didn't. And the Bucs won 5 straight including that game so the folk that were crying about losing to a crap team ended up being wrong.

Why we dwell on the past and not look forward to the future is beyond me.

It is not the responsibility of the defense to score points or to carry the QB through games to victory. If you knew more than a kitten chasing a shiny object, this might possibly be apparent to you.

And we definitely look forward to a Smith-free future.

Interesting fact from Mellinger's article:

Without the ST's and defensive TD's, the Chiefs rank 23rd in points per game from their offense.

this exact gameplan lost us TB and TEN. And lost us playoff games again and again.

You play to WIN the game, not to "not lose".

Hmmm... let me know if you can find the contradiction here.

On the other note... You just nailed the point that I have been arguing earlier today in bold. Thanks.

I said the point is to play to win. Staring down WR's and throwing into double coverage isn't playing to win...it's playing like a goddamn reerun.

But we were told Alex doesn't lose games bc he is smart.

Smith being a leader in sacks was supposedly evidence of just how smart he is and not any sort of signal that he holds on to the ball way too long waiting for a pre-selected receiver to come upon.

I'm trying very hard to imagine a QB in red and gold making multiple reads within a 5 second window, then choosing the appropriate target.

It is something that has not been seen in many moons.

5 Seconds is an eternity. Alex Smith could make multiple reads in a 5 second window.

I dare say he couldn't and won't. But yes, that is a very generous window.

When you say multiple reads you mean staring at his first target for 4 seconds and then looking at the second target followed by him getting pancaked.

LMAO

What is the appropriate window? 2 seconds? 3 seconds?

I would say somewhere between 2 and 3.

Maclin is back, and he played a productive game 75% reception rate with over 80 yards on just 6 receptions. I like where our team is headed and for once seems decently healthy. It's the run defense that worries me the most down the stretch. If that gets shored up, we can go toe-to-toe with ANY team in the playoff race.

The majority of the times Alex killed a play at the line last week the play was stuffed...

Until you accept that Alex has in no way performed either like a 1.1 draft pick or a 12 year vet and in doing so has cost this team at the worst of times in his four years here, you are a full fledged idiot and a mouth breathing homer to the rest of us.
