Chase is a special player, but Boyd, Higgins, Uzomah and Mixon are just pretty good. It's a great collection overall but I'd take Kelce, Hill, Hardman and McKinnon over their group. I'd also take Evans, Godwin, Gronk and Fournette or Allen, Williams, Cook and Ekeler.

Factor in their abysmal OL and Burrow's supporting cast on offense is actually worse than Mahomes, Brady, Allen, Herbert, etc.

Overall hes got a lot of talent at the skill positions.
His OL is pretty bad though. Saw a stat that he was sacked 70+ times this year. The record was 76 by David Carr with Texans. Seems like everyone except Chiefs D had no trouble racking up sacks on him.

Overall…the biggest takeaway from last night is that the Chiefs need a ****ing defense.

I doubt there is one person here who, if the Chiefs had been in the Rams shoes, would expect our defense to get a stop on the final drive to win the game.

We should hear in the next day or so about Burrow's knee. That didn't look good and wonder if he tore something.

RunKC 02-14-2022 10:24 AM

I really like what the Bengals did last offseason to remake their defense. They got a bunch of value players that were mostly great for them.

Trey Hendrickson-****ing steal your get this guy for $15 million AAV
BJ Hill
Larry Ogunjobi
Mike Hilton
Chidobe Awuzie

Yes they got Eli Apple too which was a dud but goddamn the rest of these guys were excellent fair priced pick up’s.

I want our off-season plan to be exactly like that

There is certainly A LOT of truth to that, but we also need change how we play with a lead as well. That means being able and WILLING TO run the ball, especially when the D is giving that to you. I'm not talking about being conservative. I'm talking about making adjustments and taking what the D is giving

I just don't see Reid changing his stripes this late in the game. He could surprise me though.

What I would like to see is them transition to the offense that we saw during the winning streak this year. Longer drives that eat up 5-6 yards a play. We need to kill this quick strike and huge chunk play offense shit. It's working great when you can get it but as you saw with the Bengals last night....when it's not working...you're dead in the water.

Hill needs more work on crossers and coming out of the backfield as a RB.
They need to integrate Grey and Fortson into the offense. Three TEs can work with Mahomes.

And for the love of God.....I hate the RPO. Run the ball normally and work in some play action.

The RPO gives Mahomes too much freedom, IMO. He's still young and learning - by giving him all that power, he's making mistakes by being too aggressive.

He'll learn to rein that in but in the meantime, they need to add more certainty to the play calling.

It also puts to much shit on the offensive line. When you run the ball, they know that you're running the ball. When you're passing....they know to pass block.

Just run the god damn ball if that's what you want. You have a capable RB in CEH and an offensive line that's good at run blocking.

Plus...guess what? That two deep shit is going to stop happening so much if you can run the ball and hit play action off of it.

That's exactly what we saw play out over the course of the season. The Chiefs started putting together 10-12 play drives over and over, causing teams to adjust out of the 2-deep looks, which opened up deeper routes.

Yep. This offense doesn't need much in the way of a talent infusion. They just need to adjust and quit stepping on their own dicks so much.

1. Stop looking for the deep strike so much.
2. Incorporate 2 and 3 TE looks for the short and intermediate gains.
3. Scheme up Hardman into crossers and jet sweeps.
4. Bring back Hill in the backfield.
5. This is just a personal pet peeve of mine but stop with the trick plays in the red zone. They're awesome when they work and you're up by 3 scores but they are a wasted play in a close game. Just run your ****ing offense.

I hate the trick plays too.

This brings up a good question that we'll probably never know the answer to but...

Is Mahomes pushing for more freedom or has Reid seen the last 3 seasons before this one and relinquished it to soon?

staylor26 02-14-2022 10:45 AM

The only thing this offense needs is a starting WR and a RB to pair with CEH.

The rest is just depth.

90% of the offseason will/should be about the defense.

If an OT takes a Trey Smith-like plunge in the draft, I would be fine with that.

We’re probably okay at RT with Niang, but I’m all for another young OT. Maybe Niang becomes the swing tackle.

I’m fine with Wylie back as depth too.
