Do you want me to lay out the way I think we should have played it?

You could argue not to take a 3-4 DE that high either. So if you weren't gonna play by the rules then the Curry pick still makes more sense.

But you can lay it out the way you would have gone.

They should have taken Eugene Monroe

Mecca 09-28-2009 02:01 AM

This is the way I would have played out the offseason if it was me...

I don't have a problem with anyone that was cut other than I would have cut LJ too, he's overpaid for a RB and I'd have dumped that money.

I think we should have signed Jason Brown we'd be overpaying for a center but we're in position to do it and we have the worst center in the league. I would have also looked at Ray Willis who ended up staying in Seattle as a backup for a reasonable price but those 2 guys would have been worth signs.

I would have taken Sanchez with the top pick...Britton with the 2 who is a prototypical RT prospect. 3rd rounder I'd have gone with a personal favorite of mine in Jared Cook. In round 4 I'm going with the DE Lawrence Sidbury followed up in round 5 with Duke Robinson, In round 6 I'm going James Davis to replace LJ who I cut. In the 7th I'd have taken Dannell Ellerbee.

Now I know you're going to look at that and think our D still sucks though but here's the thing next year has elite D prospects if we would stick in 4-3 Dorsey is in his spot and you can put Carlos Dunlap a true elite pass rushing end prospect next to him...

I think we should have hired a DC from the Eagles and put that D scheme in, they make blah LB's look good and that scheme works, it'd be better than going 3-4.

Thats a good take Mecca, your more knowlegable about a lot of the players coming out of the draft then me.

And I really did like Sanchez, but I'm not upset with getting Cassel. I think he will be a good qb giving the chance.

What was the reason Duke slipped so far, I thought he was a projected 2nd rounder?

Mecca 09-28-2009 02:28 AM

Because teams thought he was "lazy in offseason workouts" stunner that a 6'5 340lb man is a bit lazy eh?

Well he made their team, he's one of their backups I think.

Going forward with the 4-3.

D-line... RDE ?, Dorsey, Mcgee, Jackson
LBS... RLB?, Mays, LLB?
CB's... Set there
Safties... OK for now?

Seems pretty doable without forcing things.

A 43 is not going to happen.

I'm not saying this year, and it did not appear Mecca was referencing this season either. Just pondering the future.

LaChapelle 09-28-2009 07:45 AM

QB, RB, and CB are 3 areas that I don't think should be argued over. They're good enough for now. Better decisions can always be made, but they're not killing this team.

Why would they jump into a 34 this year, using the first and third round picks on 34 DE's, only to reverse course next year? Not going to happen.

.

Is there a single pre-draft post where you said KC should take Britton?

Mr. Arrowhead 09-28-2009 07:49 AM

you know what our record would be if Sanchez was our starting QB, the same it is now, 0-3

MMXcalibur 09-28-2009 07:50 AM

Stop me if I'm wrong, but I think Mark Sanchez is a Jet now.....
I think.....
