It's a horseshit decision, in isolation or part of a larger pattern. Neither get a pass from me.

It just comes down to whether you believe he was proving something and whether you think it was worth it. You obviously don't on both counts so there's not gonna be any good here as far as you're concerned. I am just choosing to give him the benefit of the doubt, however slight it is. This time next year I will not be so easy going.

Again. Only because this is his third game. Herm called games almost this poorly well into his second season and beyond. I gave Herm the benefit of the doubt to until he showed it was not warranted. Maybe it will go the same way with Haley but I don't see the point in assuming the worst with a new regime.

Are you forgetting that Haley was on offensive coordinator before coming here? He isn't new to calling plays at all. Please find another excuse.

Well then. The front office should stand up and take notice. You're obviously someone they should be listening to.

THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, I don't think anyone knows anything about Haley.

He coordinated an offense with Hall of Fame players for two years.

Before that, he bounced around the league for a decade as a receivers coach.

He may prove to be a successful, quality head coach.

Or, he may not.

Fair enough.

I understand that you and others share this view.

We'll agree to disagree, as I cannot see any positive message coming from this situation.

I approve of (and actually agree with) this.

Quitting, as he did yesterday, is a pussy move, yes.

Is he a pussy? I tend to doubt it, but who knows.

If Herm were still the coach, there would be countless threads criticizing the playcalling and saying he hates to pass, Arena ball, 3yds and dust, run it up the center's ass, R2P2, etc. Haley does the same shit and it's all for the sake of progress.

This isn't a "one size fits all" world, Mr. KC Fish.

There are significant differences between those two coaches and their respective approach to the game. The R2P2 reflected Herm's intrinsic, conservative, philosophical approach to offense. No one really believes that Haley really wants to run an offense like that.

Haley represents the hope that, as a fan, you'll experience eventual progress and improvement. Herm represents the hope that, as a fan, you'll be run over by a concrete mixer on the freeway.

*sigh* I don't mean his inexperience, I mean it takes time to instill "his way" or whatever you want to call it. I believe that's what he was doing. Proving a point and getting down to the absolute fundamentals of offense that our team sucks at. The second half was basically on the job training for our o-line. You may not believe that, but Haley's history with powerful offenses gives him enough credit with me that I'm not gonna dismiss him as a shitty play caller.

But I don't think anyone is calling this into question. What is yet to be determined, however, is whether Haley is in over his head as a HC, especially with all of his additional responsibilities.

True.

I am staying optimistic for the time being. However, Haley still has a lot to prove.
