That's the right play from Ventura, you don't know if Hos recovers from that and gets back in position. Just unlucky.

I just don't agree. You're telling me Jeremy Guthrie isn't a guy who can keep those kids mentally sharp? Come on. That's garbage. Maybe Shields should have taught some of these assholes his changeup. That would've been nice.

Guthrie's a clubhouse leader, but it's just not the same.

It's the same thing with Gordon. And it's not exclusive to baseball. If you work in a place and there's someone really good at their job who always sets a good example and works hard everyday, it rubs off on the other employees. They don't want to let the team down and/or be shown up.

momentum kicks in if we can get out of this

RedDread 07-20-2015 07:12 PM

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Holy shit. Get his ass out this half inning regardless.

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-20-2015 07:12 PM

Strikeout, groundout, strikeout. Doesn't seem like he's checked out of this one yet.

The Yin and Yang of Yordano

Anyong Bluth 07-20-2015 07:13 PM

It's official. Ventura caught whatever Duffy had/has.

KevB 07-20-2015 07:13 PM

He's showing the mental toughness we're asking for. Bizarre and ugly at times, but he is only going to get better if he goes through this.

This is just ridiculous. He's 24 years old. It's not like the Royals spent a first overall draft pick on the guy. For him to be this far is amazing.

tk13 07-20-2015 07:14 PM

Yeah he's not throwing as hard, but his stuff is more than good enough to get major league hitters out. You saw it in that inning, when he threw it effectively. Mid 90's with a changeup and curveball, you don't have any excuses.

Meh. I don't buy it. I never bought into the James Shields leadership crap. If that's the case, what's going on in San Diego? What's up with Cashner? Etc...

I agree. Talk about an over-rated player.

I liked Shields... but WTF.

Anyong Bluth 07-20-2015 07:16 PM

Anyone else hear how loud the crowd cheered after Ventura's strikeout to end the inning? The stands are packed with blue.

Are the Royals playing a home game on the road?

Baseball is funny. If Hos isn't 6'4", that groundout is suddenly a 2 run single

lewdog 07-20-2015 07:18 PM

There is nothing Shields said or coached to Ventura that Eiland can't. I don't buy the Shields bullshit.
