Yeah sounds good but giving the KC government 50 mil lol might as well light it on fire would have same results. $600 is well below market value. What happens in a few years? Back to square one.

They thought they killed the MAC project it came back with 0 "affordable" units instead of the 100 originally planned. They've done this alot continue to kill projects where "affordable" units were thrown in.

I cant wait for every owner to vacate property from these places and then see what options renters have. A bunch of ****ing dumbasses

They will take their business to JoCo making the values of properties in KC even more expensive so rent will go up even more. It's a self defeating group that has no concept of basic economics.

I get the dislike of KC Tenants some of their tactics are a little much but the balance of power has been leaning way too hard toward landlords. And I think movement to bring more balance to that so normal working people can afford places is needed.

I reject the idea that if we do anything but constantly suck the dick of property owners they will go somewhere else. Kansas City, MO continues to be on the upswing. People will do business here.

Eric Bunch in district 4 seems to be zeroing in on what I think is one of the biggest problems in regard to affordability in the area is Airbnb's being ****ing everywhere totally unregulated. It has taken so many places people can live long term off the map and hurt the housing supply issues.

My loft in the RM in 2000 was capped at $500/mo. I worked at a ****ing liquor store.

1200sq ft panty dropper for someone in their 20s.

Probably 5x that now or more.

A group I'm involved with is working with Eric on this issue. I haven't been his biggest fan but thus far he's done a good job working behind the scenes on this. Ultimately I don't see a vehicle for a long term solution that KC Tennants wants. The best is to continue to develop the urban core and have make deals with developers to include some affordable units but we can't just keep passing 50 mil here 50 mil there for affordable housing because like I asked what happens to those folks in a year or 2?

I don't support tax incentives for developers but the reality the new stadium will pass and all housing down around the stadium is going to be ridiculously priced. I won't be voting for the new stadium but people should realize that's what's going to come with the new stadium

It was some type of program. If you qualified the 500 was locked in no matter if my income increased.

I qualified coming out of college and was in hog heaven. I had a hand me down couch and a bed in 1200 sq ft but it wasn't really sought after yet. My car got stolen within the first few months.

It's 'fine', but it's pretty great to park at your hotel and then not see your car until you're ready to leave.... and I'm too old to go out and get trashed, but simply not worrying about having a drink or two, plus any rental car/parking/Lyft costs on top of getting to your hotel, etc.... it's nice.

Do YOU actually go downtown? Anyone who thinks downtown is some dangerous place or anything like that either has never been or is just scared of life in general.

Downtown isn't dangerous but there's certainly some situations you can put yourself in if you want to find trouble IE: the sideshows on 12th and Grand, The Daquiri Shop, etc.

I think they are the sort of group that will never be happy but I think their activism is pulling the pendulum back in a way that is for the better.

Because that is politics right? Its not like KC Tenants get to say everyone should be able to live in a nice place for 400 a month and then that happens. But normal working people should be able to live in Kansas City on normal wages and for a lot of places that really is not the case.

I don't pretend to be an expert on all this stuff but I appreciate how much time Bunch has spent on the issue.

I used to live right there on 12th and Grand. They were putting in some of those traffic obstructions around the time I was moving somewhere else I wonder if those have kept the sideshows from happening in that intersection. I imagine they have but also they pop up in other places so come what may.
