The New York Jets select Michael Hamlin, S, Clemson
|
The Saints are hurting for a big DT to stop the run next to Sedrick Ellis, but their pain in the linebacking corps is just beginning.
The Saints came this close to gnabbing Daniel Holtzclaw at MLB, but they resigned Vilma so they're going with a guy they think can start on the outside, a guy who was a stud in the Pac 10 for California and excels at getting to the QB, a strength the Saints already have but could definitely welcome the help. The Saints select OLB Zack Follett, California. Cowboys are up. |
Dallas Cowboys select Sebastian Vollmer, OT, Houston
|
The New York Jets select Keenan Lewis, CB, Oregon St

It's time for the Bears to address another area of great need. This guy should start immediately, with Mike Brown departing. While they did sign Josh Bullocks, he's not going to be the long term answer at the position.
The Chicago Bears select Derrick Pegues FS Mississippi State |
I was just about to step out for the night, then I decided to log in. Maybe it'll save us 18 hours, and/or me making a pick while shitfaced.
Given Nate Davis' fall from grace, sometimes the best pick is the one you don't get a chance to make. I don't think anyone could have predicted the debacle that has been his offseason, especially given that it's also come out that he has a learning disorder. I cannot in good faith give the Tampa Bay franchise nothing more than a McNown to rest their hats on. I fully believe that the Bucs will have a very high pick next year, but at this point, the success or growth of this pick will give them more flexibility with their high 1 next year. Left end, 3-tech, WR, OL, and the secondary still have holes, and there are players that I like here for some of those spots, but none of them offer this much upside. Rather than waiting for Sam Bradford, I'll draft the guy who he was supposed to backup. The Tampa Bay Bucs select Rhett Bomar, QB, Sam Houston State/Oklahoma Chevy. |
The Philadelphia Eagles select Aaron Kelly, WR, Clemson
Kevin Curtis isn't getting any younger and the Eagles are still lacking that true red zone threat. Aaron Kelly is 6'5" and with the 38" vertical he showed at the combine he is the red zone threat that the Eagles are looking for. With Curtis, DeSean Jackson, Aaron Kelly, Brian Westbrook, Knowshon Moreno and Brandon Pettigrew......McNabb has nothing to complain about. Plus Philly's offense is set for years. |
The Texans need more help in the secondary.
At 118, the Houston Texans select Asher Allen, CB, Georgia. The Ravens are on the clock. |
I met Brian Robiskie a couple weekends ago, and didn't know who he was until later. We were at a restaurant in Columbus, Ohio.
We had to wait about 45 minutes for a table. While we were waiting a group of eight people or so came in and waited next to us. His dad was really cool. We exchanged pleasantries, his wife was really nice also. (his dad is a wide receiver coach for the Falcons). We were seated and and ordered the food. Then the table next to us cleared out and they sat next to our table. Anyway, a guy came over and asked for his autograph. We were like, ummm, who is that guy? I thought he was a basketball player because he was tall. Then later we asked the waiter and he told us who he was. I wasn't familar with the name so i looked it up on the internet when we got home. I told the GF who it was and who his dad was excitedly, she was like . She doesn't know or care about sports. He is a nice, and quiet guy, from what i could tell. |
Sorry for the delay - out of town with limited internet access.
The Ravens go value here and select a TE to pair with, and eventually replace Heap. Chiefs select TE Travis Beckum, Wisconsin. |

If he's fully recovered from his injury he's got a skill set similar to Dustin Keller (a little less speed though). |

I'm picking for OTW.
Well, I just don't see any way that this player will make it to my Kansas City pick, and given that OTW was gracious enough to give me his picks for the weekend, I'm going to do him right. The Patriots need almost all their help on the defensive side of the ball. They've added one MLB in Laurinaitis, but now they can add a two down thumper to play the TED position, so that Adalius Thomas can just pin his ears back most of the time. The New England Patriots select Jasper Brinkley, ILB, South Carolina |
The Falcons released Lawyer Milloy in February, and don't really have anyone to step into the role.
They'll take a safety here to compete with Jamal Fudge and Eric Brock to fill the position. Falcons select Jamarca Sanford, SS, Ole Miss |

Miami Dolphins select Scott McKillop, LB, Pitt

A PM would have been nice to know I'm up. I'll select within the hour.

Pick #94 - Tennessee Titans |
Yep, I'll change it. Zouk had him selected as a CORNERBACK, which he isn't, so I missed his selection.

Well, I'm back, but not for long...
Looks like this new job, plus school and some other obligations are going to force me to end my participation in the mock for this year. Things are beyond chaotic right now, and it's not getting better anytime soon. I hereby bequeath my remaining picks to Hamas, and hopefully Mecca can continue to keep the board updated for you guys. Enjoy the final 3 rounds. |

The new job is a "good" busy, but school is really kicking my ass right now - so it's not the best time. I'll tough it out for the next 6 weeks, then get bumped to 60-80 hours a week at work. Quote:
Have fun fellas, and BTW, great pick for me, Hamas. |

The Panthers select Tyronne Green, OG, Auburn

With the Colts switching out of the cover 2 it's important for them to get a DT that can be strong at the point and handle blockers, and it's also a position in which they lack depth at so the Colts select..
Terrance Taylor, DT, Michigan |
Thanks, OTW, I appreciate it. However, in the interest of fairness, if anyone wants the Lions or Pats for the remainder of the draft, and their team had a low amount of picks, I'll give them an extra team to make up for the disparity. No use in me having 1/8 of all the teams in the mock
|
The Giants have picked:
1. DE Michael Johnson, Georgia Tech 2. DB Sean Smith, Utah 2. WR Louis Murphy, Florida 3. QB Chase "Toolbox" Daniel 3. OLB Gerald McRath, Southern Mississippi The Giants still need a lot of help planning for their future LB corps. McRath could be promising on the outside, but help in the middle is still going to be a need as very soon as next year. Daniel Holtzclaw from E Mich is as physically primed as you can get in the fourth round. His upside is huge but since he comes from a small school, some downside is prevalent as well. The Giants are just taking all kinds of risks this year. Anyway, giving Holtzclaw some time backing up Pierce at MLB, and at least the Giants will know by 2009 whether they need to invest in a high pick to replace Pierce, or if Holtzclaw may be able to handle it himself. The New York Giants select MLB Daniel Holtzclaw, Eastern Michigan. |
Well the mock can't be updated anymore because...
1. The text that you have entered is too long (20048 characters). Please shorten it to 20000 characters long. Nice forum we have here. |
Everyone knows the procedure by now, so just delete the rules and leave up the picks.

lol
New thread I guess then? Just copy the list in the first post and we can go from there. |

The Titans select Lydon Murtha OT Nebraska.
He's the kind of tall mobile tackle the Titans go for. He can compete for the swing tackle spot behind Roos and Stewart. |

End of the 4th round is a great place to gamble on a phenomenal athlete whose college career was hampered by injuries. For a team that likes lighter linemen he can be a find. |

Arizona Cardinals select Donald Washington, CB, Ohio State
I like Washington's size and upside. He will be able to play the run well and he also has the athleticism and speed necessary to one day develop into a starting CB. |
The Steelers select, Jason Phillips, ILBer, TCU
|
The San Diego Chargers select Mike Thomas WR, Arizona and Javon Ringer RB, Michigan St.
Running back and wide receiver are the most loaded positions in this draft, and the Chargers are able to pluck possibly the last 2 day 1 caliber players at those positions at the end of round 4. Mike Thomas should be a nice fit as a compliment to the tall receivers Jackson and Floyd, and Javon Ringer is an NFL-ready back that can step in when either or both LT and Sproles leave after 2009. |
The Titans select Jason Williams LB, W. Illinois.
He should fit in as a backup linebacker that can step in for the aging David Thornton in 2010. |
And now the Colts will select another late drafted player who will be productive for them staying with their whole idea of drafting productive defenders late the Colts select..
Kaluka Maiava, OLB, USC |
So is Hamas taking Detroit over or is somebody else?
|
If he comes on, he can go twice. I'm ready to pick.
|
My plate is full. I can barely keep up with my picks.
|
Holy Shit, I'm dancing a jig here. I didn't think there was any way he'd fall to us.
The Detroit Lions select David Bruton, FS, Notre Dame |
The Rams need a back to spell SJ. They need someone with break away speed for a change of pace. While this guy has never really been known for that, and he's uh, gained some weight in the last couple of years, he did run the fastest 40 time at the combine. He's known for his heart and attitude, and frankly the Rams can use some of it.
The Rams select Cedric Peerman RB Virginia |
The Kansas City Chiefs sprint to the podium and select Cornelius Lewis OG/RT, Tennessee State.
|
Cadogen in the 4th. Lewis in the 5th.
Brett Williams in the 4th. Jordan Black in the 5th. Anybody else notice a trend? |
Hamas is going balls to the wall upgrading the offense...
Defense? Meh. |

Champ Bailey isn't getting any younger and the depth behind him isn't that great. The Denver Broncos select:
Jason McCourty, CB, Rutgers |
The Eagles continue to add to their depth at o-line (in true Andy Reid fashion). The Philadelphia Eagles select:
A.Q. Shipley, OG/OC, Penn State |
Bengals add some nice depth to the DL.
Cincinnati Bengals select Vance Walker, DT Georgia Tech |

We've spent buttloads of 6th and 7th round picks on offensive linemen. Darnell Alford, Alex Sulfsted, Jeremy Parquet, Will Svitek, Kevin Sampson, Herb Taylor (my boy), Richardson, and then you throw in guys like Brett Williams and Jordan Black in the 4th and 5th. For a position that's supposed to yield a few successful finds in the later rounds, at least as backups, that's not a very good list. Jordan Black is the most successful guy we've drafted. Granted, we have Brian Waters to be thankful for, but even then we didn't pick him up after the draft. He was around for awhile with Dallas if I remember correctly before coming to KC. I don't know if Taylor or Richardson will work out, but those other guys are dogshit. Albert is our lineman since John Tait to be drafted in the first 3 rounds. I'd like to see us pull the trigger again by either trading down in the first or finding some guys in the 2nd or 3rd round. |

Tying to add depth to their DL, the Falcons select Ra'Shon Harris, DT, Oregon
|
The Jacksonville Jaguars select Mike Wallace, WR, Ole Miss
|
Loooking for a player that they can line up at DE in their new 34 defense, the Pack select Will Johnson, DT/DE, Michigan
|
The 49ers can use some depth on their OL and groom a guy who can become an eventual starter. This guy didn't play football until his junior year of high school and started for 2 seasons for Florida at both LT and RT. He is still raw but athletic as hell with great size (6'6" 320lbs) - he even lined up some at TE during his 1st year at Florida. He is a smart guy (high 30's on the Wonderlic) who knows how to win, as evidenced by his two National Championship rings, and he's versatile enough to line up at LT, RT, or OG.
The San Francisco 49ers select Jason Watkins, OT, Florida. |
Seeing what round this pick is, and one of my favorite players that I think could develop into a productive starter and give the Bills some versatility they will select with this pick...
Chris Clemons, Safety, Clemson. |
The Chargers select Alex Fletcher, C, Stanford.
SD needs a backup center and missed out on the top tier. We would have taken Clemons if Mecca hadn't. |
The Denver Broncos select Worrell Williams, ILB, California
The Broncos signed Andra Davis during the offseason to hold down one of the ILB roles in their 3-4 defense. Williams will sit behind him for one or two years and then step into the starting position. |

The Redskins select the strongest O-lineman in the draft, who also didn't allow a sack in 2007...Louis Vasquez, OG, Texas Tech.
|
The Giants need a second Wind and you can never have enough horses in the stable.
I'm opting for a smaller RB with home-run potential. A 4.3 40, 31 reps, and a 10-2 broad jump? Who is this man!?!?! I bet the Giants know. The New York Giants select RB Antone Smith, Florida State. |
