Even if this Hanson guy is starting, he can't play defense, and K-State does have a running game, unlike KU and Mizzou.

Also - there is nothing more redneck(ingly?) pleasing than watching a bunch of Harley Davidsons circle the field before kickoff.

Actually, KU has one of the best running attacks in the conference. The problem last night, IMO, was that they brought Sharp back in too soon. Or at least they should have given Opurum half the carries. That guy tore some shit up the last 2 weeks. But CU's defense really played well against the run last night. They were keying on Sharp big time.

Maybe you are right, but I'm saying, that Thomas kid can flat out play.

Prior to last night, KU is/was 10th in the conference in rushing, averaging 101 ypg on 53 attempts. For a dazzling 1.9 ypc average.
Last night's game probably didn't help that as KU finished with a -8 net yards rushing.

Their leading rusher was Sharp.(13-37).

Yowza....

ArrowheadHawk 10-18-2009 09:20 AM

Its simple. When Reesing has a good 4 quarters KU wins. If not they don't.

Well our starting running back did miss 2 games an he came back sluggish. So they may not be one of the best but they certainly aren't where they show up on that list.

Sharp, in his career, hasn't made it through a season w/o being nicked up. These stats are only for 2 conference games so the sample size is low. It could change, but the schedule for KU ramps up from here.

how are we mouthy, we are just correcting Lzen's distorted view of his teams rushing prowess. Which we would have probably done even had we lost.

Crybaby.

true....thats what confused me about what Lzen said....of all your offensive attributes, rushing hasn't ever been the strong point. Not terrible, but nothing to tout on the internet.

Nice stats but you only included 2 games, one of which was a shitty effort from last night.

Lzen 10-18-2009 10:31 AM

Sharp was 2nd in the conference in rushing before he went down. Opurum stepped in and immediately put up a 100 yard rushing performance and then another good performance the next week. Last night was an aberration. Plus, Reesing has taken several sacks because he held the ball too long. But you guys keep believing that KU can't run the ball. If your coaches hold the same belief, you are in trouble.

no, those are the Big 12 stats through yesterdays games direct from big12sports.com

here are stats for all games to date

http://www.big12sports.com/ViewConte...NTENT_ID=98674

Sharp averaged 53yds/game through 5 games. Hardly a juggernaut, especially considering the teams he did it against.

Lzen 10-18-2009 10:39 AM

Kansas State YPC 4.1
Kansas YPC 4.3

Are you stupid? Sharp only played in slightly more than 3 games. He barely played in the 4th before they took him out.

He has only played in 4.

Lzen 10-18-2009 10:44 AM

Kansas 155.2 rushing yards per game
Kansas State 183.7 rushing yards per game

Difference is that KSU has run the ball 313 times to KU's 218.
KU has a QB and receivers that make it much less necessary to run the ball so much. Make no mistake, though. When Sharp is healthy and Opurum gets carries (don't know WTF coaching staff was thinking last night), KU is a very formidable rushing attack.

Yes. He barely played in game 4. And I wasn't including last night. The only game that he actually played significant minutes (not including last night) he was very good.
