Apparently the Dolphins just have 10.2 million in cap space and would have to restructure Jake Long and couple of other contracts to free up room, at least that is what John Clayton is saying. So Miami might not be as strong a contender as everyone thinks.

If anything, that's a list of stop gap veterans...so, I would have to answer that question with a "yes"

Don't forget that they spent big money on Cassel to be the qb...it didn't work and now they have a chance at the best FA qb EVER.

It would be a move that makes sense from every single angle possible.

Aaron Wilson seems to be spot on with his Chiefs stuff. I would've preferred his tweet say that the Chiefs were the front runner though.

Yeah Harbaugh took less money to coach the 49ers and Fisher picked the Rams over the Dolphins. I'm sure Manning will want to play for Miami.

And face the Jets D twice a year. If he goes to Miami his chances to go the SB decrease a bunch. There's a big chance they don't even make the playoffs. With KC he cann all but waltz to a division crown and a home playoff game.

If Peyton goes to Miami it'll turn out to be just a paid retirement.

It would not be surprising, but I am just not sure where all the Dolphin love is coming from. They don't have a lot of cash, so not only would it be tight for them to sign Manning...they could not sign Wayne or Saturday as well. Also, not sure if Peyton wants to go up against Brady twice a year. The road to the playoffs is tough in the AFC East with New England and the Jets there.

I think Peyton wants to win now, and the money is important, but a team just has to have enough to give him a big contract, but not necessarily a ball busting one...just enough to show Peyton the proper respect.

It will be an interesting week.

Yeah i hope we are that quiet team that comes out of nowhere like the angels

Hammock Parties 03-08-2012 03:39 PM

I wonder if the league has any say in this.

I'm sure they would like Manning in Miami.

NJChiefsFan 03-08-2012 03:39 PM

I do think MIA has the second best team next to ours. They are going to push hard and are in warm weather. Those are things that I think will matter big to him. Things we have are a weaker division and better roster. I don't think MIA will have an issue with money. Somehow they will manage to match us at the least.

tk13 03-08-2012 03:40 PM

That said... I'm not sure I buy into the idea that Manning is going to avoid certain teams or divisions because of who is in them. He's likely going to have to go through Brady to win the AFC either way.

Depends. Sabathia to the Yankees, Brad Richards to the Rangers. Those were pegged well in advance and played out to the letter. It depends on the situation.

While this is true, keep in mind that the Colts have always built their teams to be dome teams, and dome teams typical struggle the colder it is. The Chiefs are built to handle the elements...and Peyton has had no trouble winning in Arrowhead in cold weather, he has done it before in Jan.

Ok, all this talk about weather, he would play 8 games in KC, half of which are reasonable weather wise? Then another 3 on the west coast. So thats at least 7 games in decent weather..plus Im sure the Chiefs play in a dome or two each year...

Peyton Manning Brings Out The Flight Tracking And Petitions In KC

Nothing like NFL fans in clamoring for a player in free agency. We grasp for any straw we can to make ourselves think our team has a shot at the big player on the market.

This year, it appears the Kansas City Chiefs may very well be involved in the Peyton Manning sweepstakes. It's not really grasping straws when reports say KC has approached Manning's camp and others are saying the Chiefs are one of a handful of teams that have a shot.

But, this is still free agency, which means as fans we are going to convince ourselves that Manning-to-KC is possible. A few examples...

The time honored tradition of tracking planes via FlightAware.com continues. Someone sent me a link which shows a jet leaving KC today and heading to Miami, the same airport Manning flew into this week. Nope, no idea if that's related at all (but I bet a bunch of people, who have probably already stopped reading by this point, will start to say that we're reporting the Chiefs are flying down to Miami).

I also saw someone tweet out a link to a petition. Yes, a "Bring Manning to KC" petition. Because front offices always listen to those.

And then I also heard Bob Fescoe mention the other day that the Colts Stadium, Lucas Oil, is located on...S Missouri St. A sign?

If only this could come down to the Cardinals and Chiefs fighting over a star quarterback. That's never happened before, right?

I'll say it again.

I NEVER said Barkley couldn't do it, just that he hadn't.

Sorry that you have trouble reading and all.....

Are you flip flopping now, or are you still clinging to your stance that you don't want Manning here?

Also, the stance that Cassel will be the unquestioned starter again next year?....you coming off that one yet, or are you going down with the ship...which is admirable in a way.
