nothing wrong with that interview
looked a bit overwhelmed He needs to be put in motion a ton until he improves on handling the jam at the LOS |
Reid and Dorsey are both saying Jenkins looks good in practice. It seems the 49ers thought he practiced well too.
This has me wondering if AJ Jenkins has a Danica Patrick problem. Danica Patrick is a fast qualifier. She starts near the front because she is blistering on an empty track. Then you throw in traffic, and she goes cautious and can't pass and can't hold off other racers. On an empty track, she is a champion. In a real race, she is an also-ran who almost never podiums. Now AJ is getting praise for practice in non-contact drills. Give him contact, and he crumbles. I don't think this is coach-able. I guess we'll see. |

9ers always get the best of us. If I had $$$$ on this I say they probably did it again. At least it's the 9ers

I think there is far more we don't now about AJ than we do... He is a lottery ticket, nothing more. |

49ers fans watched him while running a route that was specifically drawn for him, get blasted by a linemen, who wasn't even looking at him, but again he looked like he got hit by a TRUCK. We have not seen a lot of aj Jenkins, but in his limited time, its not been good. His one catch, he fumbled, his one opportunity last year in a regular season game no one within 10 yards of him, perfectly placed he dropped. Teams do not give up on first round picks that quickly unless they see no upside at all. If you cant be physically tough on a team like the 49ers who instills toughness as a fundamental property, then I don't have much faith in that player. For the record, Jon Baldwin isn't going to last long in SF either. |

I don't know where you got a total of two years played for him |

I'm not defending the guy, or saying he is going to be great....but the sample size it too small and your authoritative tone are laughable. |

Aj Jenkins was supposed to come in and team with Crabs and give the 49ers an explosive set of receivers. But then he came in out of shape, refused an offer from the GOAT in Jerry Rice, then could only play in 3 games after manningham went down for the year. its not good. And he hasn't really ever shown the desire to get better. If anything to be honest, he looks worse this year, than he did last year. Last year in preseason you could see the speed, and hands a little bit. This year, was just bad. Sorry if I have an authoritative tone towards a bust of a first round wr that I had hope for. |
Can't believe this thread is still going.
99% of informed Chiefs fans are not sorry to see Baldwin go. His absence creates a roster spot for another WR. Whether it's Jenkins or some URFA that no one has ever heard of, it really doesn't matter. |

It's looking more and more like all the Chiefs and Niners did was waste two airline tickets sending these guys to their new teams. |

I'm hoping a system change will help, seems Reid and co liked Jenkins coming out. Likely they'll never be anything though |
So, we go from Baldwin, Breaston, and Bowe to Donnie, Dexter, and Devon.
Killer B's to the D-minuses. |

I look at it this way with the exact same expectations.
The Chiefs flushed a pioli turd that was a waste of a roster spot and filled it with an UDFA who happened to be a former first rounder. No risk. if he pans out, awesome. If he doesn't, hope he enjoys his job at sizzler. |

qb, wr, interior olinemen. |
I still liked what Steve Breaston did for this team. I think we could really use him right now, and that we shouldn't have cut him. Bowe, Avery, Breaston isn't nearly as shitty as Bowe, Avery, and... Jenkings? Hemingway? Wylie?

Didn't Breaston just get cut again?

I'm still full (wolverine) homer on Hemingway.

Yes. Something is up with Breaston, he's either got an injury or his cheese slid off his cracker. There is a reason he didn't see the field for the Chiefs as down as they were and he was already cut this year....I'd guess he is done.

we still need a vertical threat though. if we don't stretch the defenses deep then our offense will go into a shell again. |

I fully believe that Donnie Avery was the real #2 for the past couple of weeks. I think both teams knew going into the game that this trade was possible.
Really, have you EVER seen Baldwin get that many targets? And Jenkins was had a ton of snaps against our first team. Flowers and Smith both were covering him. He was targeted 4 times, I think. The coaching staffs knew they were going to make this trade, so they got together and agreed to show the other guy some specific stuff. |

Although Kaep and Harbs are saying he has "great" hands. Taking that with a Mountain of salt. Harbs has been known to lavish praise on guys early in the off-season to get their confidence up. |

Also this was a terrible trade. If we cut him we have to pay for it whereas if we cut Baldwin it would have been worth nothing. |

Has anyone signed Brandon Lloyd yet? If not we most certainly could use the guy.
Dunno what our cap situation is like, or what he'd be demanding if he's available. |

Todd Haley is the most overrated coach in Pro football. Bar none.

Todd Haley's got the 70% down pretty well. Yelling seems to be an easy way to convince people that you're competent. |
@LRiddickESPN: More I think about it, the more I like the fit between AJ Jenkins and the #Chiefs offense. Hope the kid shows well tonight.
@LRiddickESPN: Coach Reid has some great ideas/ concepts as to how to get a speedster like Jenkins open in the deep part of the field. |

A guy that talented has to be quite the annoying douche to not be able to keep a job. He would help us a bunch unless he is just unable to get along with anybody. Bowe - big body/possession Lloyd - speed guy Avery - speed guy McCluster - gadget Hemmingway - possession WR lineup looks so much better with Lloyd in there |
Hopefully Reid can get something out of Jenkins

Jenkins, WR, 6-0, 190, Illinois...Jenkins caught 90 passes last year, nearly half of starting quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase's completions. BEST PICK Wide receiver A.J. Jenkins: Their best pick may be their first. While the team is stacked with receivers, Jenkins is the only one, other than former first-round choice Michael Crabtree, who could be a future No. 1 receiver. So far, Crabtree has been a disappointment as the receiving bell cow and his disappearance in the playoffs did not help him. Jenkins appears to be what Crabtree is not and that's a gym rat who will make time to put in extra work with quarterback Alex Smith. - The Sports Xchange |

Looking at film of Jenkins or at least what I could find, he's definitely a much better route runner than Baldwin ever was. Much more fluid in and out of breaks.
Just gotta get him off the line of scrimmage |
