yet another shit inning

Mr. Flopnuts 10-26-2014 07:39 PM

Welp. Plenty of baseball left. Top of the order next inning.

PHOG 10-26-2014 07:39 PM

NL rules are BS.

GloryDayz 10-26-2014 07:39 PM

MG can beat this team alone! JFC!

petegz28 10-26-2014 07:39 PM

YAY! You struck out a guy who bats 2-3 times a year. You is the awesome!

DeezNutz 10-26-2014 07:39 PM

Sacrificed any chance at a run for one more inning of pitching. ****. Tough.

Oh I totally agree. I would have just liked someone else to PH

lewdog 10-26-2014 07:39 PM

UGH. NL RULES.

mr. tegu 10-26-2014 07:39 PM

Only 12 outs to go. I don't see it happening but maybe I will be surprised.

Simply Red 10-26-2014 07:39 PM

sixty pitches for SF's pitcher - KC will have to take two at home, unfortunately.

Got it.

It's not very high, the Giants are a pretty smart baseball team. They are ready to defend the bunt there. The real debate was whether you should PH for Dyson there.

IT'S A TOUGH CALL. I THINK YOU COULD HAVE GONE EITHER WAY AND NEITHER IS THE RIGHT CALL.

if billay would have batted for dyson does that put aoki in the game?

He's 2 for 9.

Not a straight sacrifice, but bunting for a base hit is an option there. That may be the only way Dyson gets on. If it works you've got first and third one out and two chances to get the run in.

Low percentage, I concede, but maybe the best hope.

No, it is NOT the same.

A) Dyson beats the throw, 2 on and 1 out.
B) Wild throw and runners at 2 and 3, with 1 out.
C) Dyson out at first, runner in scoring position and 2 outs.
D) Dyson strikes out, runner on 1 and 2 outs.

D was the most likely outcome.

More patience at the plate. The gmen are laying back on some of JS's off speed and breaking stuff and are able to hit donkers. KC is trying to hit HR's and getting out in front of the slow stuff from Bum.

GloryDayz 10-26-2014 07:41 PM

I'm going to laugh next time SF has an earthquake... And water the shit out of my lawn!

DeezNutz 10-26-2014 07:41 PM

PH Butler for Hosmer. Sacrifice the D for two ABs from Butters.

YES WHICH ISN'T HORRIBLE, HOWEVER IF YOU THINK CAIN IS HURT AND CAN'T PLAY CENTER YOU'D HAVE AOKI THERE. THAT'S POSSIBLY WORSE THAN DYSON!

is the field below sea level?

chiefsfan987 10-26-2014 07:42 PM

We probably should have started Butler over Hosmer. Too many left handed bats in the lineup.

lewdog 10-26-2014 07:42 PM

GOSH, SOME SURPRISINGLY GOOD BASEBALL TALK GOING ON HERE TONIGHT. VERY INTERESTING.

DeezNutz 10-26-2014 07:42 PM

Yeah, I think that's a fair criticism in hindsight.

Yost cares too much about defense. I realize how important it is, but in a game like this, we need as much offense as humanly possible.

GloryDayz 10-26-2014 07:43 PM

Well MG has pitched better!

And had better D.

And had runners who don't suck!

DeezNutz 10-26-2014 07:43 PM

Was KC ready to defend the bunt when SF beat one out with a runner on 1?

With as many close plays with how the Giants hit on first base, we really need Hosmer over Butler.

Mr. Flopnuts 10-26-2014 07:44 PM

Good start!

Discuss Thrower 10-26-2014 07:44 PM

So glad they didn't sacrifice defense to get Butler into the line up.

... Wait.

I don't think it's the worst idea... but the odds are high you're basically sacrificing in front of the pitcher's spot. Dyson is just as likely to hit one of those choppers he usually beats out.

lewdog 10-26-2014 07:44 PM

THE 6TH HAS TO BE OUR INNING WITH THE TOP OF THE ORDER UP.

Bunting for a base hit would have been a fine approach. Shit, it's basically that or tell Dyson's weak ass not to swing.

Mr. Flopnuts 10-26-2014 07:45 PM

Shields is money tonight.

MeatRock 10-26-2014 07:45 PM

I would seriously consider Butler at 1st here for some goddamn offense.

Perhaps, but he's just not making contact vs Bum. You're right though, the PH is probably the pivotal question.

No, he is not.

"Just as likely" would mean he had a 50-50 chance. 2 for 9 says otherwise.

And again, bunting the runner to 2 and getting thrown out was a worse outcome than we got, how?

The runner was already on second. That is the point. He scores on a hit either way.

Maybe I'm giving Dyson too much credit. I thought he could at least make contact there. And I figured the Giants would be all over a bunt. I hate the idea of giving up an out in front of the pitcher.

kc rush 10-26-2014 07:48 PM

KCCHIEFS27 10-26-2014 07:48 PM

The royals are in midseason form. Where they have forgot how to play baseball. Shields doesn't look good. Frustrated and overthrowing. Sandoval or Pence might hurt us here

DeezNutz 10-26-2014 07:48 PM

Praising the "blocking" of ML catchers is the biggest farce in sports. Stabbing, lunging mother****ers.

And if Yost pulls Shields, I will go ape shit because of the rampant stupidity of letting him swing the bat, if you're that willing to pull him.
