The last two years have revealed just how far away Myers is from the Royals philosophy. Offensively, he is a power hitting bat who has struck out at a concerningly high rate for his entire career. His struggle to make consistent contact likely raised red flags with the Royals minor league scouting.

Even more concerning may have been Myers defense. His defense at both right and center have been atrocious in his young career. Put those struggles in Kauffman and we may have been pining for replacement level talent in right field.

I love Wil, and want him to succeed. His wrist problems (arising from a crazy outfield collision) are the worst thing that could have happened to a young hitter. However, it's now clear that his skill set may never been the right fit for the Royals. Kudos to Moore and his scouts for seeing that as he was coming through the pipeline.

kcjayhawks5 12-04-2015 12:46 PM

Pelfrey is weak. . Detroit can have him

duncan_idaho 12-04-2015 12:50 PM

Pelfrey and Detroit's defense could be an interesting combination.

Detroit is really good up the middle with Kinsler and Iglesias, and really bad at the corners with Cabrera and Castellanos.

Martinez is also pretty bad.

He's a nice sixth starter signing, but yeah, I'd rather have Chris Young, personally.

They're definitely unique. Kind of refreshing and I think it works for them, however, I hope I never see the Royals with any sublimated designs like that. Our current uniforms could stick for quite a while I feel like, especially with our success in them over the last couple of years.

It'll be cool to go watch Greinke this summer. Perhaps I'll adopt the D-Backs as my NL team. I'm in Arizona this weekend house hunting. Hopefully I'll find something I like enough to make an offer to get some stability back in my life lol

Just goes to show he was always about the money. I know dealing him away brought Cain and Escobar, but it still steams me he quit on the Royals. And it makes me incredibly happy that they've played in two World Series and he hasn't come within spitting distance of one.

Or that he really believes in the DBacks.

They can score a lot of runs, they were 8th in runs scored. They just dont have pitching.

Well the Dback haven't really ever had a following so they need to generate a buzz with shit like this.

The Royals should never go away from what they are working with. Established franchises that have been around a long time should continue with more classic looks IMO.

Admittedly, I've only seen them play a couple of games against the Nationals. I don't remember anything standing out about them. I did do a double take the first time I saw Goldschmidt's stats on the scoreboard.

I just think that if he wanted to win - truly wanted to win - there were better options available. And I don't mean the Dodgers.

Yeah, although I think what was bothered some people was that the organization had invested so much in him and let him work through all his personal problems, even when he about quit baseball. Then he turned on them, and even beyond that, killed the trade with the Nationals even though everyone bent over backwards to accommodate him. Also that he admitted that he quit on the team. Today, I'm guessing he's very glad he didn't quit.

That is somewhere around $11,000 per pitch depending on what his average pitch count per game is.

Good for Zack he now owns the keys to Fort Knox. I do always wonder what he thinks about abandoning the ship before it found success. I am surprised no reporter has asked his thoughts on his former team. Anyway I don't have any animosity towards him for wanting out of what he thought was a bad situation.

I think that trade was something like Zimmermann + Espinosa or Desmond + Wilson Ramos (may have been a different catcher, not sure on Ramos).

That could have worked out.

He's awesome. Personality and leadership wise. Results, not so much.

Will this myth die? We "invested" in him only because of his immense talent. We did it out of self-interest. If he had sucked, he'd have been released.

I don't think anyone argued otherwise. I didn't even say I agreed with that line of thought, just pointing it out. It's a business at the end of the day. But do remember that they signed Greinke to an extension before he won the Cy Young and a year later he basically quit. I don't think he's completely innocent either, but it worked out.

That's why I hate Greinke. When it's all said and done, he had a 4-year contract with the Royals that was worth $38,000,000, and he ****ing quit on them in order to force the team to trade him.

I think a guy getting paid that much money ought to TRY. I know, as it turned out it was a great trade for the Royals. But that doesn't excuse Greinke deliberately tanking his last season with the Royals.

Nah.. kind of funny I remember people being stunned when Canseco become the first 3 million dollar man.

@Buster_ESPN: The perception among other teams is that it's only a matter of timing before Chris Young works out a new deal with the Royals.
