We're set and solid 1-5 at the OL. Only thing that will take it down is injuries, and even then, Fulton and Reid are pretty good at filling in everything along the interior.

The officiating was in mid-season form. Having to waste their last challenge on that punt return, the non-holding, the 1 challenge the officials let stand. Didn't like the no-call on the hit on Hogan either. But it appears that the players who will make the team did well.

Did anyone get hurt for KC? I couldn't watch he game today, unfortunately.

I will agree in the Indy instance, and to a lesser degree in the NE game. Too many walking wounded at NE where the game plan was not able to be executed. NE was arguably as healthy as they been since early in the season.
But today? What glaring coaching errors lost us the game? Coverage? The missed challenge? 12 men on field (that is always on the players)?

Will you credit the coaching for carving up the Seattle defense that first drive? Or how Boykin was shut down until he was brought back to play against 3s and 4s?

Nothing was going to be perfect today including coaching. Tons of positives, and I am no sunshine pumper. Most franchises envy our depth right now....

I'm just watching the game. Alex Smith is blind, but Marcus Peters isn't human.

Looked to me our run defense was a bit suspect, we got gashed pretty good on several plays.

No question about it, didnt expect to see the front 3 get shoved off the ball like that time and again

They were letting Christine Brett Michaels look like Jim Brown

Do we have a body count on the number of people who jumped off the ledge because we're not going 4 - 0 in the preseason?

A couple of Chris Jones plays that were really good:

Easily beats the OL, then gets his hands up quickly and almost tips the pass.

The guy looked really really good today.

If I'm not mistaken, he also diagnosed a screen play and completely shut down any possibility of a reception to the HB.

Dadi Nicholas has the speed and can bend. This guy has a chance to be really good.

Yeah I remember that play and was thinking how impressive that was. This kid is the real deal and has a football iq to go along with tremendous athleticism.

Everyone is asleep, so I'm watching again.

Dee Ford, with 4:29 left in the 1st, SO completely fails to seal the edge.

If his lacklustre play keeps up, and if the likes of Moses, Nicolas, Zombo, etc. prove dependable, I wonder if Dorsey has the balls to give Dee his walking papers? Massaquoi was arguably better than Ford today too.

Nelson is giving up a huge cushion.

Massaquoi was awful.

Ford and Mulumba were comparable, albeit, against different competition but a 1st rounder like Ford won't be cut after a preseason game.

Nelson is just in time to make every tackle.

Ramik Wilson needs more upper body strength

Too much dead money with a Ford release or trade anyhow, but sheesh he is awfully close to bust label. I did not suggest Massaquoi was good, but he did have a couple rushes late that helped Nicolas and I think King to provide pressure.
I want to see Moses and Nicolas against 1's and 2's to get a better measure. Not sure they get the opportunity.

Nicolas is going to be a player but he needs more experience and quite a bit more upper body strength.

That said, (sadly, BTW), at this point, it appears he has more upside than Ford.

Dee Ford also dropped back into coverage on the Peters INT. Never change, Bob Sutton...never change.

Re-confirming what I saw when I first watched: all of the Seahawk QB snaps from the first team were 3 step drops with quick passes. Same as the Pats game 7 months ago.
Can't get any gauge on the pass rush when the ball goes out quickly. That's something that the backups didn't have to deal with.

But my god did Dee Ford look awful in run support today. It's like he's learned nothing.

I don't want to be too critical but yeah, we learned containment in 2nd grade

Gaudy stats at Auburn boosted Ford's draft stock but he was a polarizing prospect. Freakish athletic numbers and impressive production, but somewhat of a one trick pony who was surrounded by great talent. I personally hated the pick at the time.

Nicolas would likely have been a 2nd to 3rd round prospect before the Hokies stupidly asked him to play inside their hybrid front. Nicolas has impressive pass rush skills and improved other aspects of his game while at Vtech. Many great reviews about his intangibles/work ethic and willingness to get better have circulated for some time. I loved the Nicolas pick because Dorsey got huge athletic potential and a solid character kid arguably 2-3 rounds later than where he should have been scooped up.
Ford on the other hand was over-drafted IMO and it appears that he is struggling with the pro game. What may have come easy in college is devoid in his pro performances to date. Is it work ethic? Slow processing? It may be all these things, but he is definitely trending down.

Dee Ford shouldn't be playing SOLB. Plain and simple. He'd be just fine if Houston were there and he was at WOLB.

He was the SEC Defensive Player of the Year and had 20 sacks, so "over drafted" is a misnomer.

That said, his progress has been disappointing. He still has time to turn it around but that likelihood seems to be shrinking.

Even better. Loved the acquisition of Foles from the get go, but my fandom increases if he is Tom's baby boy. Such an iconic musician and songwriter.

Nicolas is small...I happened to be in KC and checked out a practice. He was standing next to Peters and they were roughly the same size...he's like 230.

Jerry Hughes, Whitney Mercilus, and Melvin Ingram all looked liked busts too going into year 3. They each didn't break out till year 4, even with more experience than Ford early on. It sucks to see him continuing to struggle, but I'm not going to overreact yet either. I'm also not going to wait till after year 4 till I say we need to start looking for his replacement though.

Oh I know, but I also remember some red flags around him and scouting reports suggesting that although he was a tremendous athlete that he was not very football savvy and one dimensional. The draft is a crapshoot but I remember opinions ranging on Ford being as high as a top 12-15 pick to the bottom of the second round.

True..he was drafted to Hali's replacement...not Houstons. Two different positions...

The offense looked crisp out of the gate...and the O-line looked good. Seattle has a great defense. Smith will be a different QB without defenders in his face...as will Charles.

I've never seen JC run behind a good O-line...so kinda excited about it.
