Don't you get it? Lebron is the only player allowed to build super teams and play with multiple superstars.

If he had helped develop (that bust)Wiggins (double ouch for KenPom Connection)instead of running him off for Love, he could have had a Pippen!

Kobe winning back to back titles with 2 completely different incarnations of the Lakers is up there but being exactly like Jordan but lesser can't really get you into this conversation. And just as James had his weird flake-out series (against the Magic, I believe? Maybe Boston), Kobe has that bizarre Phoenix game and then the blown finals against Boston. Something of a tangent, but there aren't many guys who have won B2B with 2 completely different clubs like Kobe has.

Absolutely, but of course, stans like KCC like to play revisionist history and pretend that Kyrie wasn't also fantastic in that series. You would think Lebron did it all by himself, even though he was amazing and even better.

No, he just cried to KD to save him and his fraud franchise from repeated NBA Finals beatings.

....with a mostly homegrown team unlike Lebron...

KC_Connection 04-17-2024 11:09 AM

The 2019 Raptors were kicking the shit out of that Warriors team all Finals without KD. Same thing would have happened in 2017 and 2018 by LeBron's hands had Steph and Draymond not had to cry to KD from the parking lot after the 2016 Finals loss.

Fraud dynasty.

I railed against that at the time. Wiggins seemed like a WAY better fit than Love alongside LeBron but LeGM got in his own way again. And frankly it seemed like he wanted to find an easy button for a quick title.

And to his credit, it kinda worked. But I think he left some meat on those bones. James/Kyrie/Wiggins could've been a damn difficult trio had Wiggins been allowed to develop into a 3 and D wing that his talent said he should've been rather than the volume player he became in Minnesota.

And he'd have been in a perfect spot for that to happen alongside those 2. If his last 4 years in GS are the first 4 years of his career, that's a championship team. And GS is using him how Cleveland easily could've. In so doing, his development arc would've been completely different as well. Wiggins effectively wasted the first 5 years of his career being asked to be a lead dog in Minnesota when what he should've been was a premier 2nd/3rd option.

You mean the same Curry that won two Championships without KD?

What has KD done since?

James is great but so is Steph. Lets not act like James won all his championships alone.

Chris Paul is like 40 years old. Calling on him to contribute in a meaningful way at thus point is the mistake. Not everyone can be LeBron at age 40

KC_Connection 04-17-2024 07:47 PM

Philly will be favored against the Knicks.

Sure Herro....take your time! A few tenths of a second quicker on that three and they might have had a shot there if Philly still turned it over like they did.

He was pretty obviously washed last season, IMO.

Kind of an interesting contrast. The east seems very bottom heavy in the playoffs where the west seems top heavy. Many of the play in teams seem more formidable than any eastern conference team not named Boston. And even Boston just seems like they’re a choke waiting to happen.

The East is just buns. Full stop.

The bottom of the East is worse than the bottom of the West. The top is worse than the top of the West. It's just a worse conference. By quite a bit, IMO.

That's why I laugh at the "tougher competition" argument. In the Finals? Sure, but mostly because of the Warriors. But in the conference? Not even remotely close.

I dont know that I’d say that. The top of the west would clobber every team in the east. But the sixers are a top of the east team with a healthy Embiid (which probably won’t happen this season). And the Heat are a giant killer matchup who for some reason or another lost their shit this year. Last nights matchup felt like what should have been a late eastern conference matchup.

I don’t have much of an opinion on if they’re better or worse than the bottom of the west. A lot of that comment was because I think Dallas and phoenix are flawed teams regardless of conference. But miami and especially Philly at their best, which they haven’t been, are definitely as good as the best of the east.

I'm quite convinced any of the top 7 West teams could beat any East team in a series but the Celtics this year. We'll see about Philly, but Milwaukee has been a mess all season long and aren't likely to suddenly rectify that in the playoffs.

Embiid looks about 70% right now so that’s probably right. And there’s something in the water in Miami right now because that team just ain’t clicking right now. So that is probably true. But Philly when Embiid was 100% under nick nurse was a legitimately very good team. Yeah no disagreement on the other teams in the east.

Suns looking predictably soft all game and especially near the rim. They have to have missed at least 10 looks within 3 feet of the rim. They are not good at all. After somehow lucking into the best possible playoff scenario while melting down the last week of the season, they again show up flat with nothing in the half court.

It featured some great players like Derozan, Curry, and Harden. Even some nice players late like Patty Mills.

I think this is the end of Embiids good portion of his career. I feel like he's just about done. His body won't let him take it. And not surprising. Nobody except Shaq makes it past age 30 who is taller than 7 foot.

If they could get away with it he should never play until the last few weeks of the season and try to make a run with him healthy as possible. That makes him though an expensive bench warmer.

Embiid is on court.

And he doesn’t look right

He’s definitely never gonna win a title as a #1 guy. Didn’t look likely anyway.

His best chance was probably the Kawhi year.

Jalen Brunson is my guy. Would be hilarious if NYY vs Mavs in the Finals and Brunson won. I'd just laugh my ass off.

Ball didn’t bounce his way.

Lowry still out there impacting games at near age 40

Phi v NY is an all time trash city matchup. Neither of those fanbases deserves any happiness.
