I don't have a big problem with them trading up. I just don't think it's realistic to expect them to jump 15 spots or more.

I could totally see them trading up 6-8 spots.

Furthermore, even if they think they have the right prospect, they should still look to hedge their bets and sign a couple of guys to spot start in the event that they need it.

I don't know what the plan is, but I do know that it's not to sit back and wait at 31. I'd be pretty shocked if they do that, and it would probably mean that they're VERY confident that they have found a hidden gem that can start day 1 if need be.

Maybe it's Tunsil, maybe it's OBJ, maybe they trade up for one of the top 3 guys, or maybe it's a move none of us see coming.

I just know that I'm very anxious to see it all play out. And if it's not OBJ or Tunsil, I'm excited to see how they use the money they save to fill other holes like DE.

Agreed and I definitely believe if they let OBJ walk they have a plan to swing for the fences. I just don't believe they would protect Pat with a rookie LT.

Past history just shows trading up for anything other than a QB...really isn't worth it.

Eh, you have to play young players it happens, they were all rookies at some point were they not?

O.city 03-08-2023 11:57 AM

It's easy to say "trade up" but you've gotta have someone to trade up with. Why would a team wanna go from 15 to 31 without getting a pretty good haul?

You're just assuming there's nowhere to go but up. That's not reality at all.

Again, I'm not saying anything is guaranteed. All I''m saying is that nobody else should, either. Nothing is guaranteed. Nothing.

The fact that they wanted to give a 6 year deal to Orlando with a way out in year 3 is a pretty damning indictment against him.

This was basically a bandaid. We were gonna have to circle back to this soon anyway.

Brett just chose to do it now

I think they'd be willing to move like they did for McDuffie last year, they aren't going from 31 to like 12 though.

How many times do the Chiefs need to defy what past history says successfully before you stop worrying about it?

Dante84 03-08-2023 11:58 AM

Sorry, I'm going to double down on my last post:

Does Houston accept this trade?

HOU GETS:
Pick #31
LB Willie Gay OR CB LaJarius Sneed

KC GETS:
LT Laremy Tunsil

At LT? With Mahomes at QB?

No, they don't HAVE to do anything. They should, and likely will, explore every option available.

Have no teams with high level QB's played a young LT before?

You can't just ignore past history.

No team in the NFL is ever perfect. Ever. Even Veach makes mistakes.

Just because they've successfully employed rookies at other positions, it doesn't mean they can, or even would, do the same at LT.

Not sure they do.

True and IIRC Reid had Fisher starting and protecting Alex from the get go. Stating the obvious but Alex isn't Pat and they hadn't won any SB's though.

I would rather not do that if we are sticking with pick #32

Sure they have. The better question is "have any of them regretted it?"

And the answer is yes. There is no perfect guaranteed answer here.

The Chiefs have to do their work and there's a bit of luck involved as well.

Again, I'm not talking about what I want. I'm not emotional about it. I'm talking about what could happen, based on reality. Nothing else.
