I think the ship has sailed if you are expected Diallo to get more than 10 minutes a game. Its conference time and HCBS wants that 12rh straight title and to put us in position for a #1 seed. It is silly to not play him and Bragg when we are up 22 pts in the 2nd half only to put him in with Tyler Self and Evan Manning for mop up time but thats the way Bill rolls. The rotation is set, so lets just focus on getting those Ws and hope Landen Lucas can be as productive as possible.
As is, in terms of overall CURRENT production I would rank the bigs as follows
1) Hunter Mickelson
2) Carlton Bragg (he had a shit game today, though)
3) Landen Lucas
4) Chieck Diallo
5)Jamari Traylor
I feel like they all kind of are average guys, so its really splitting hairs at this point. They all have significant pluses and weaknesses.
Hunter is an energy player, pokes balls lose, blocks shots. But hes not a back to the basket scorer, although nobody is. Hes an effective enough rebounder. Decent range, lacks some toughness tho.
Carlton is very skilled, athletic and best shooter of the bunch. Probably would be the best scorer if was given big time minutes and be more of a focal point in the offense (im not advocating that). Has better defensive positioning than Diallo at this point but isnt a natural elite defender talent. Lacks mass to be able to bang down low. Best passer of the group. Blocks more shots than Lucas.
Lucas. Probably the most consistent of them all. Best rebounder, best at getting position, best at defending post players with lots of mass (Think Rico Gathers) but hes the worst big we have at blocking shots. He has hands of stone, struggles finishing even close to the hoop. No range. Struggles against athletic bigs.
Diallo. Has no clue what hes doing. Mistake prone. Quick trigger. Best shot blocker on the team probability, probably 2nd best rebounder to Lucas. Matches up best against slender athletic bigs. Gets pushed around down low. Decent shot.
Traylor. Energy player. Can actually block shots from time to time. Is still and idiot as a 5th year senior. The most undersized in the bunch. Avg defensively, avg offensively. Will beast mode 2 games a year, but completely no show in a handful as well. Most versatile defensively.
