Well, Chiefs move should be to get a deal done with Chris Jones.

It would be penny wise and pound foolish to not go to Veach-Tillis Plan B.

There’s only one irreplaceable player on the roster.

Jones’ production can be replaced in the aggregate.

1) No. Just no. They've given out PLENTY of market-resetting or at least market value deals like Mahomes, Taylor, Thuney, Jones already, Clark etc etc.

2) Even IF it had some truth ... so? Did the lack of goodwill in the Pats locker room (who truly rarely paid anyone) prevent them winning tons of SBs?

Some of you guys are just weird. Pay Mahomes, keep him happy, everyone else can get on board or GTFO, and we're gonna be SB favorites every year regardless.

Yeah this shit is even more irritating that Chris Jones. People in here acting like he's not one of the best pass rushers in the entire league and he's doing it from a much more important spot, while taking on over double the amount of double teams than those edge rushers. He's getting legit double teams from center and guards, while edge rushers will get clipped by a shitty TE or RB and that's considered a double team. He's also getting just as much pressure as those guys.

Interior pressure is way more valuable than edge pressure. You can tell that by what it does to our very own Patrick Mahomes. It's almost his kryptonite, almost. Pressure on the inside keeps the QB from stepping up into the pocket and gets the QB on the move. Lots of QBs aren't good throwing on the move. What Chris Jones does is more vital than what the greatest edge rushers do and he's able to get to the QB at the same clip as those guys while having to beat 2 legit blockers.

****ing tards on here dissing his play can get wrecked by his foot long dong. ****ing idiots.

I agree

It’s one thing to not want to pay whatever, I get that.

But to downplay the actual on field of the guy is shitty

It’s not just people in this this thread though; based on the salary scale for the different positions, the league clearly puts more value on DEs than they do the DT. You can disagree with their evaluation on the matter all you want, but before you start calling everyone in this discussion tards you might consider that we are only arguing the position that is the current reality.

I’d say having a unicorn that can rush like jones does from the DT spot is pretty valuable though

The idea that not paying CJ more would generate bad feelings in the locker room is ridiculous. There's a limited supply of money to be paid out. These guys are gonna be mad that a few million more wasn't given to one of the highest paid guys already? We must pick up a lot of checks.

But, when does that skill diminish? Still can't pay for what a guy has done when they're turning 30 it just rarely works out well.

Jones has his faults too. Wasn't long ago he was a liability against the run due to missing gap assignments. Didn't he lose the game after whispering something into Matt Ryans ear? He's worth exactly what the Chiefs are offering not what he wants.

If you want a raise you have to show up to work.....don't you?

Anyone using the penalty he got in that game as some kind of gotcha is a dumb shit. Considering you and Wallcrawler have posted about it just proves that theory.

PS sorry for making your mom squeal all night. You must've heard all of that in the basement, so im sorry.

Jones production cannot be replaced. Who is going to replace that production from the inside?

Fronti3r 09-07-2023 07:11 AM

Imagine being Chris Jones tonight sitting on your lazy butt hoping HIS Chiefs defense plays poorly so he has a better shot at more money. I was tired of this guy 6 weeks ago.

I can't imagine there's not at least 3 other men looking to take this grown man's job.

Look, I’m all for doing away with the current pay structure of the NFL. The fact that Daniel freaking Jones, who hasn’t accomplished jack shit in the league, is able to command the contract he got simply because he’s a QB and that’s “the QB market” is utterly insane in my world. Each player should be paid according to their results. Obviously, position is going to be a part of that process, but there is no reason why it should as large a factor as it is.

But back to reality, where value is indeed largely determined by position. I’m all for that reality changing but, another piece of this current reality is that between his age and him being under contract for the team that is quarterbacked by Patrick Mahomes, he ain’t gonna be the guy to head that revolution. And instead of him coming to grips with that reality, he is instead sitting out hoping his teammates fail and lose games to strengthen his position.

Ultimately, the current reality is that Chris Jones can get ****ed.

Those reporters were pussies by not asking the real follow up question during that interview.

“What do you hope to gain by holding out? You obviously know the team is counting on your contribution on field in relation to the percentage of the cap you take up this year and not playing is tying their hands behind their backs in hopes you make more money”
