Exactly. He peaked at ND. Good enough to get a ton of wins, but not good enough to actually compete with the big boys in the SEC. He wasn't gonna ever lead ND to a National Championship.

Yea and at ND you have a bunch of older fans that don't understand ND isn't what it use to be... Michigan has thar same issue. Those are great jobs, top 10 jobs but they aren't what they were when I was a kid.

Good for Riley, not so much for USC. If he couldn't win championships at OU, what are the chances of him doing it at USC? It's not like OU was some plucky directional school that overachieved with 2 star talent.

Not really.

LSU is Alabama's only real competition when every program in the West is at its best (Ole Miss, Auburn, Arkansas, Miss St., A&M are all at a least step lower in terms of ceiling lower in a given year, IMO). Lose to Alabama, win the rest of your games, and you're still in. LSU is even more likely to get in when they expand to 12 regardless of Alabama.

Also, stuff like Kelly and Riley leaving further validates players being able to transfer.

Even if a player's transferred once, they should be able to get another free one if a coach leaves.

So a thing floating around is that there will be pressure from ND decision makers to elevate Marcus Freeman to HC if Kelly does indeed leave.
