First impression: a bit tougher. My defense is much better, my offense not as good. Just enough to get the job done as I beat Texas 17-14 on a last second field goal (got me the #8 greatest game).

Held UT to 234 yards of offense, and I had 329. Much less than my usual, but Texas has a tough D and I was at there house, and playing with the new sliders.

There's some definite issues with Heisman level and the passing game, both for Human and CPU.

I'm back to tweaking AA sliders right now. I'll post them when they're done.

Saulbadguy 08-16-2005 08:44 AM

Quite odd. I beat #4 ranked texas at Austin, but struggle with unranked Kansas in Manhattan. What gives? Is Heisman that cheesy?

I think I might go back to AA. I can't complete a pass worth a crap, and the Computer seems to get big plays against me fairly easily.

htismaqe 08-20-2005 07:15 AM

Heisman is definitely cheesy at times.

I've finally finished my "realism" sliders. I watch CPU vs. CPU games to get my CPU sliders. Try these:

All-American Level
7-minute quarters
subs 80%/85%

Hum/CPU

Offense
35...35
70...65
70...75
35...50
30...45

Defense
30...70
45...45
10...10
60...60
65...65

ST
45...45
25...25
45...45
40...40
45...45

Saulbadguy 08-20-2005 10:58 PM

I'll give em a whirl this week. Thanks.

Saulbadguy 08-29-2005 02:58 PM

Hmmm. I just tried out your sliders. Here are the results:

Kansas State vs Kansas
59-34

I held KU to -1 Rushing yards on 22 rushes, but they shredded me for 385 passing yards. I had a total of 589 yards of offense, 282 passing, 305 rushing. I'll have to try out a few more games.

Yeah, I've tweaked them slightly. The Human knockdown was definitely too low. Try these:

Offense
30...35
60...65
60...75
30...50
25...45

Defense
25...70
65...50

While I agree Heisman can be cheesy, I've had some great games lately. I don't like restarting games, but I've had to a few times.... there's just games where it's impossible to do anything due to constant fumbles, horrible passes, etc. Past those though, I love it.

Yesterday I came back and beat Florida on a last minute drive, a game after losing at Georgia. Right now, in the top 25, the SEC East is #2 (Georgia), #6 (USC, me), #11 (Florida -- 8 before I beat them), and #18 (Tennessee)..... and the West has #7 (Auburn) and #15 (MSU). It's challenging every week... and minus Vanderbilt's Impact RB, it's because I'm playing good teams.

It's so far removed from previous years where it took one year to build, one year to win a BCS game, and one year to win a NC... and that was considered a long trip to win it all. I won the SEC last year, but unless Georgia loses 2 of their last 3 games, I won't be back this year.

I could be playing this game well into the actual season, which would be a change from previous years... I've usually won one or two NCs by the end of my first contract, but I'll probably have to actually renew instead of moving on to a rebuilding project. :thumb:

Awesome!

And by the way, you might want to refer to your team as the Gamecocks, just so people don't think Southern Cal is now in the SEC East. :D

It's funny how I started playing as the Gamecocks when Spurrier was still in Washington for the same reasons he says he went there... the challenge of Tennessee, Florida, and Georgia, being in the SEC, having the atmosphere despite the lack of prestige.

I downloaded the rosters with names, so it was cool to watch them Thursday night and think "Wow, Joseph is a stud in the game, but sucks in real life" or "I wish Blake Mitchell was that good in the game" (said in the 1st quarter).

I was having so much trouble with Mitchell (more immobile than Kurt Warner without legs, and doesn't pass like the Impact QB he is) and Hefner (can run the option, but is a useless passer) -- even using a 2 QB system didn't work -- that I un-redshirted my freshman stud @LSU (a week after losing in Athens). So, um, good luck with them, Steve ;)

Well, so much for not having a chance at the NC.....

The week Georgia played Ole Miss, the top 25 started with:
#1 Georgia
#2 Ole Miss
#3 South Carolina

Ole Miss won, bumping me up to #2.

Georgia and Ole Miss played in the SEC Championship game, and Georgia won. That bumped Georgia to #1, and kept me at #2, so without even playing in my conference's championship game, I have a chance at the NC, against a team in the same division (much less same conference), who is responsible for my only loss.

Even if I win the NC, I'll probably stick with them since all of the SEC powerhouses are still strong. I'm also tempted to buy Madden just so I can draft some of these kids :)

Bearcat 09-06-2005 10:50 AM

Well, I lost to Georgia's Impact RBs in the Championship game... I'm very happy to see them graduate (Ware and Lumpkin, IIRC). It was just impossible to contain them (again). If they weren't running through huge holes, they were breaking tackle after tackle, including some cheesy ones where nothing short of a dump truck could have made it past the gang tackling. I thought about playing it again, but figured I'd just deal with it, especially since they were both Seniors. I got my revenge in week 2 of the next season... something like 44-13, in a #1 vs #3 game.

It was weird seeing such a down year in recruiting... no team got more than 4 BC/5* players, including me. I still had the #1 recruiting class for the 3rd straight year, it just wasn't that strong of a class.

I'm #1 at the moment, but school starts tomorrow, so it's back to real life this week :deevee:

I rented the game and love it.

I made a team and replaced Baylor with them in the Big 12.

Go Springtown Mound Pounders!

Saulbadguy 09-08-2005 07:31 AM

Recruiting is still way too easy.

htismaqe 09-08-2005 11:17 AM

Hey guys, here's the latest sliders I'm using. They've helped me to limit KO/punt returns (I was getting as many as SIX per game!)...

All-American Level
7minute quarters
subs 80%/85%

Hum/CPU

Offense
40...40
60...60
60...70
25...50
25...50

Anyone still playing?

I won back to back titles, and then simulated the last two season of my contract and won 2 more. I like picking up decent/good schools that are down, and found Boston College at 118. I thought the Coach's Prestige might be one of those things EA went overboard with, but recruiting was actually pretty realistic... lots of 2* and 3*...... the class ranked 66, which is the first year I didn't get #1 since buying the game.

South Carolina's recruiting was pretty easy, since Florida is an obvious pipeline... and they had some talent to begin with. I don't even have scratch to play with at BC.
