I can still remember me and a buddy picking up 2 chicks there that were doing the surveys. We surveyed them out in the parking lot.

Good times.

I think it was at Bannister back in the mid 70's when Malls were closed on Sundays due to the blue laws and the parking lot was bare. I was around 11 or 12 at the time. My Uncle and Dad would race in Gymkhanas (similar to autocross) out in the parking lot. My dad had a 58 Vette and my uncle had a Corvair. There were probably 30-40 pretty cool cars out there, man I miss that.

Pretty sure it was prior to that, because that's where Bob Dole went Back to School shopping a couple of years.

You are correct. Must of been another mall that I can't remember the name now. Which ever one it was I bet it has met it's demise as well.

Bannister Mall was built and opened in August 1980.

I dont even think they build enclosed malls anymore? Everything new is open air. Enclosed became teen, thug hangouts.

I think think the trend will swing back..

Checked with my Aunt and she thinks they raced at Metro North Mall. Is it still around?

I never understood abandoning indoor comfort to go freezing or sweating from store to store in a place like Zona Rosa.

The Malls killed themselves with uber-high rent.

The feeling I got about Bannister Mall was that when it was built it was built without the chance of expanding or being redesigned. Oak Park Mall was able to add Nordstroms and I remember Independence Center did some renovations.

Back in the wayback, we went to Metcalf South. Last I knew, it was pretty bare.
