So, to be frankly, there is nothing realistic about this particular set of picks. It only exists to display what each team MAY be thinking in certain SITUATIONS.

What is the downside of taking Sanchez #3?

Cassel plays for 2 years, either proves that he can hack it or he can't. If he sucks it up after one year, you still have a potential franchise QB that you can turn to, and you have a solid backup quarterback.

If Cassel plays well, but not great, and they like Sanchez more, they can offload Cassel for more than what they paid for him, because they aren't up against the cap like the Patriots and can afford to hold on to him.

If Cassel plays well and they don't like Sanchez, they can still offload him to another team for draft picks to recoup some of the loss (see Walsh, Steve).

If they both play well you have a 49ers scenario and you can unload the older guy for high compensation to a team ready to win now. Oh NOEZ!!

Worst case scenario: They both suck ass, and you're picking at the top of the draft for a few years. And this is worse than now, how?

I'm sorry, but I like those odds, especially given that Sanchez has much more upside than Cassel.
