Sorry, rhetorical question to prove a point, that being an intellectual doesn't demand knowledge of every douche who has ever written a book.

Literary scholars and intellectuals aren't mutually exclusive.

But it would if one was attempting to appear superior due to intellect.

I don't think your intent matches up with what this post means. You're saying that someone can be both a literary scholar and an intellectual (which is obviously true, but I don't think that is what you intended to mean).

I know what you're trying to say, and I completely agree, but this is the subject matter that was being used to call out the "pseudo-intellectuals."

Nope.

The most learned literary scholars have a very small scope of expertise, but this is the nature of advanced degrees. It's about learning more and more and more about less and less and less.

Player hatin' degrees are incredibly focused, for example, and there's nothing "pseudo" about this.

The important thing is that I'm right.

I actually meant mutually inclusive.

Totally disagree.

20's are "okay". No money, trying to establish identity.

30's are somewhat better. Rising up the ranks of your profession. Money, a car and a home follow.

40's are bad ass. Dough, vacations, kids, power.

well I have the kids part-lol

Sounds like teaching at the university level is right up their alley. Sure the PhDs will be nice to look at, but I really do hope that neither achieve anything that even remotely resembles a successful publishing.
