EJ has been my favorite Jayhawk since arrival, tonight he proved my faith was not misplaced. Dudes got mad springs and if turned loose will be unstoppable.

Johnson did just about everything well Tuesday at the Lahaina Civic Center. He was sinking treys, pushing the ball up the floor and getting into the lane at will against UCLA's vaunted defense. NBA scouts and KU fans have been waiting for this moment for two years. Johnson came in as a high-flying five-star bluechip recruit. NBA scouts saw a 6-foot-4 inch athletic guard who had the strength and quickness to get to the basket and whispered he could be a first-round pick
EJ will be in the NBA next year if he has a few more games like that...not unexpected.

Dangerous is an understatement. EJ played well. I thought Robinson and Withey did pretty well also, given the shitfest that is UCLA defense.

Robinson didn't play well for a large portion of the game and stopped giving a shit early in the 2nd half, allowing Reeves Nelson to dominate on both ends. Fortunately, he woke up when they really needed him.

And Withey was his same wishy-washy self...some good things, mostly bad things. Nothing new there. It's not like they have any better options...all Wesley seems to do is foul when he gets on the court.

Talent-wise or overall. Talentwise I agree, but Duke will play much smarter and more disciplined than Calipari's teams ever will. I don't think they're that much better overall.
Having watched Kentucky and Duke play multiple times this season, I don't think Duke is nearly as good as Kentucky....right now, anyway. The talent is just so exceptional at UK. Duke might be later when Rivers starts playing better and they start playing more within Coach K's system.

Yes.

You know, if/when the NBA reaches an agreement with the players, if there is an implemented 2 year wait out of high school before being eligible for the draft it might influence some upper-classmen to leave early. If there is a gap next year, where players who would have been one and done's are not eligible it could help guys like EJ and T-Rob in raising their stock. Might help us in the long-run with the class we appear to be bringing in next year, but not so much in convincing upper classmen to stick around.

Am I looking at this wrong?

I wish they would either get rid of the one and done rule or make it like the NFL where you have to have at least completed your jr. year.

I hope they get rid of it completely (I doubt they will, though) but if they make the kids stay 3 years, Cal is going to get himself a few rings.

I thought I heard this is something Stern wants, at least two years in college before becoming eligible.

at the same time, why would additional 4 or 5 stars want to go there in the next year or two when they know they'd be losing minutes they could get at other places, like say umm KU

:)

Cal is going to have the pick of the litter. Imagine if Cal had John Wall, Doron Lamb and DeMarcus Cousins for 3 years? Then he picked up Anthony Davis the next year? KU won't be able to get 3 top 10 recruits even if what you describe happens, but Cal will.

Well one place you get a substantial paycheck, the other you don't. ;)

NO. Then his players would have to go to class.
