Our secondary, currently under contract:

Brandon Flowers
Eric Berry
Sean Smith
Dunta Robinson
Javier Arenas
Husain Abdullah
Kendrick Lewis
DeQuan Menzie
Jalil Brown
Tysyn Hartman

Pretty ****ing impressive.

BoneKrusher 03-14-2013 12:32 PM

add another Safety to pair with Berry and the Chiefs could have one helluva secondary.

Sean Smith three year deal worth $18 mil. Adding to the entry.

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet

Early returns on #Chiefs Sean Smith's 3-year deal: 3 years, $18 million 11 guaranteed. Won't have breakdown for a bit, though...

No kidding. Surprising we got him for a relative bargain.

I think Abdullah is actually going to be pretty damn good.

You're better with Abdulla at free, Robinson at Nickel and Arenas at Dime/Punt returner than you are with Abdullah marginalized.

Forgot about Abdullah

Look at the draft history of the guys running the show. They like to draft QB's. If there is one that they think is available in the first round over the next year or two, and they can get him, they will.

You are pissed at how the organization was run for the last 40 years. I get that. Me too. I'm not going to hold that against this regime however. They deserve a shot. The draft hasn't even happened yet, they haven't played a single game yet, and you are blasting them. I'm simply willing to give them a shot and see what they can do.

My tailgating buddies you mentioned hated the ***** hiring at the time, stating it was all Belichick, and I disagreed with them. I was wrong.

I'm simply thinking that our fans need to not use the history of the last 40 years to define this regime, when they have only been in charge for 2 months and haven't even had a draft yet. To this point, they are doing everything possible to improve this team by filling holes left by *****.

I'll let it play itself out, but if they are actually thinking Alex Smith for 3-4 years then it's 100% bad move. I like every thing else they are doing at this point, but unless they go QB in first I'm still going to have a sour ass taste in my mouth. Especially if the other teams are coveting Geno in the top 5.

Also not I will mock fully anyone that sites their or a buddies playing experience as a way to validate an opinion.

Interesting. I would have thought they wouldn't invest that much into a second tackle. Especially if they are going to keep Albert around. Any word from your sources on the matter?

I heard Bernard Pollard is looking for a job.

The Bad Guy 03-14-2013 12:38 PM

All I know is we have tons of options in the secondary now. Tons.

Flowers, Smith, Arenas with Robinson, Berry at S
Flowers, Smith, Robinson, Arenas with Berry, Abdullah.

I just really think though they'll put Robinson at FS and bring in Lewis on passing downs and put Robinson in the slot.

Robinson, Abdullah and Lewis are all potential safeties. Menzie is probably a better fit there as well.

Hartman and Brown are the walking dead right now, so I don't count them. But one thing this team now appears to have is a hell of a lot of quality, versatile depth in the safety corps.

Not saying they are gonna take Geno, but Andy Reid named Doug Pederson the starter after he drafted McNabb.

The Bad Guy 03-14-2013 12:39 PM

I still think they'll draft a 5th corner and get rid of Hartman and Brown.

I can see the depth being: Flowers, Smith, Robinson, Arenas, draft pick, Berry, Lewis, Abdullah.
