I don't think it matters. I think Dorsey shows him the door after this year no matter what he does...

Just about. One more year like last year and that will be the general consensus.

I'm not an accountant, but I don't think he can from a contract perspective without taking a cap hit beating.

I think he can be a cut option after the 2015 season.

Can't a hired by KC thug just plant some dope and guns in his car, and send the po-po at him? Some contract clause that can recoup that money? :hmmm:

The hope is Bowe will be sharper with his routes like the playoff game.

I feel he got into the habit of doing those sloppy routes and playing patty-cake with DBs and trying those 1-arm body-catches because he had to prepare to fight for a pass that was not gonna be on point.

Thats a very good point.

We havent had a precise offensive system here since Vermeil and Bowe has never experienced that, he's been able to produce because of and in spite of exactly what you mention.

Years of poor offensive systems and crap QB's... it surely breeds sloppiness.

Its my opinion that he knows the deal now, we'll see... he tries to be a good guy IMO.

If they cut Bowe after this year, they'd have a 10.25M in dead money in order to save 3.5M on the cap. Those need to be reversed in order to make any sense.

Bowe is here for awhile, guys.

Reid's system is predicated on precise route running and timing. Two things that Dwayne Bowe has never really exemplified. (Remember that Bowe didn't start playing football until his junior year of high school and was simply overpowering people with size and athleticism his entire career. His technique and skills as a wide receiver are, and always have been, lacking when compared to other highly paid receivers such as Fitzgerald, Bryant, Johnson, etc.)

Bowe is a "chuck it up dawg!" type of receiver and that's not what ultimately works in this system and with this QB. When asked to run routes, he's consistently beat by defensive backs, even those who are substantially smaller than himself.

It's why he put up better numbers with worse QB's as he was allowed to simply freelance downfield. That won't happen with Reid and it definitely showed last season. (Add to that that he was downright horrible in terms of conditioning.)

It's just one more thing to consider when looking at the 2014 Draft, which was considered to be the best WR draft since 1996. They (Dorsey/Reid) knew Bowe was a bad fit along with having a very lackluster receiving corps behind him, but they still didn't take a single receiver in the draft and only signed Albert Wilson as an UDFA.

As it stands, Dwayne Bowe is the most overrated and overpaid WR in the NFL. If he can't pick up the offense and secure his routes and timing, he's simply a glorified second level fullback.

Either he produces or the Chiefs are going to take a beating on his salary as it equates to his production/performance until 2016, when they can effectively cut him. Either than or trade him, but no one is taking on his salary at this point.

Bottom line: He's got to produce. Otherwise, he's the albatross around Dorsey's neck.

I had my say, posted it, then scrolled down to read your first 3 paragraphs, agreeing completely, thinking I should've just kept reading and quoted your post instead of offering my measly effort... but I just simply think you're wrong in the last 3.

If he has any lazy football habits, then none of them were being helped in any way until Andy Reid and Alex Smith showed up /ed* Haley started the process... now he's being forced to grow and it will start to stick with him, the guy has always struck me as a coach pleaser, he wants to stay here for some odd reason.

Teicher might be literally the least imaginative person I have ever witnessed. He has a profound lack of vision, imagination, or abstract thought. He would stand at the base of the statue of liberty and think it was merely a big metal foot.

Tombstone engravers offer more insightful information.

This. (My statement > Teicher's whole article)

Be that as it may, he's never been the most technical of receivers.

I just don't see him, at 29/30 years old, suddenly changing his methodology in terms of preparing for the game.

I hope it happens. Even with the shortcomings in his game, he's still our best receiver. (However, he's not the diesel cocked WR stud that C.E. is making out to be in this thread. The guy has some serious holes in his game that do not correlate to his current contract. At this point, Dorsey overpaid.)

1989 and counting.

Response:
What are the number of years Adam Teicher has been collecting a healthy paycheck for doing jackshit in a futile attempt to "cover" the Chiefs.

Oh, I am very sorry. Your answer must be in the FORM of a question and while this is a well constructed sentence, it is a sentence as it does not end with a question mark.

Hope in one hand, have your boy friend poop in the other, and guess which one gets full first.

Alex smith isn't going anywhere.

Makes me happy, makes you sad, which in turns make me EVEN HAPPIER.
