What's funny is the way so many coaches are still obsessed with trying to make him into some kind of weapon he's not.

Todd Haley misused him, but then he put him full time at the slot receiver position. I would bet that the majority of Dex's growth as a player came during that time. Then Romeo/Daboll decided to put him back at RB like a moron. Andy Reid put him back in as a full time receiver. Now Whiz is stupidly putting him back in as a gadget, thinking he's his new version of Randle El.

We'll see if Whiz gets it. But he has plenty of tape to show him how dumb an idea it was in the first place.

Haley was just trying to get something out of him. I don't think Haley was ever really sold on McCluster as anything other than someone who might be able to beat single coverage from a LB.

I think so too. But the fact is, he matured into a solid possession receiver and for most of his career, coaches keep trying to make him not that. Which is a shame because if not for that, the Chiefs probably could have kept him for cheaper and gotten really good use out of him.

I think DAT has already proven that, PROVIDED THAT HE CAN STAY ON THE FIELD, Dorsey effectively replaced D-Mac skill set for far less than D-Mac was going to get from an NFL team.

C'est LA Vié

No, DAT is a different option. I think mccluster should play and excel in hemmingways job. The Chiefs have no hands right now. Mccluster had excellent hands.

That is a fact.

Yes, it is.

I've always thought, and still think Dex can be useful, but it's really hard to argue with this point.

Pretty spot on.

My boss and a few guys from work went to the Denver game last year. One of the guys Brian is standing in the lobby of the four seasons in Denver. Brian is lifelong insane Chiefs fan mind you, and the elevator opens up and out comes Pioli (hes working for NFL network or whatever at this time) he sees Brian in his chiefs gear and makes a bee line for him. The guy starts talking and introduces himself as Scott. Brian says oh yea I know who you are. So about that time Boss comes up and joins in. Pioli busts out something like 'what do you guys think Dexter McCluster will do today?' Boss proceeds to bash em, smash em, say hes a waste of a pick, hes terrible, hes a mcmidget, etc. Pioli just takes it.

A few more minutes pass and they wrap it up and head out the door. As they walk down the street Brian is looking at Boss like hes nuts, and finally Boss says 'what?' Brian then tells him he was just talking to Pioli and he ripped DMC a new one.

Boss just kind of laughs and says oh well its the truth~

Didn't someone write a song about him?

Stop using Dex as a weapon.

HAHAHA! Love it! I think he spoke for most informed CHiefs fans, although not true fans.

Dex is more than useful. The problem is, teams have to stop treating him like a YAC receiver. He's a bigger weapon before and during the catch. Not after it.

I don't know why, but this doesn't surprise me one bit. It sounded like he was a little bit whiney about his role in KC at times. Definitely seems like a prima donna.

He's lucky he didn't get punched in the face once he announced who he was. LMAO
