Looks like a very nice gamble for the price. I'm glad the team has decided to address the in-offensive line.

Time to take some lumps with a young QB.

It is what it is.

This team is looking towards the future.

uh...from most accounts he's considerably worse than those guys.

Erving is a developmental prospect, not a win-now type of acquisition.

Fix the Oline first then you put the young QB in there. The Chiefs are gearing up for next year.

Obviously I'm a big fan of Cam Erving the NFL draft prospect.

Cam Erving the Brown has just been terrible for two straight years at everything. Browns fans will tell you that all day long, and there is no good footage of him in a Browns jersey. Anywhere. It almost makes you wonder what the Chiefs saw in him.

Also, our 2018 draft is getting depleted in a hurry. The Chiefs are in a very tight cap spot in 2018 -- unless they've already got plans to dump Alex Smith, Tamba Hali, and Derrick Johnson. They are going to have roster spots they'll need to fill in 2018, too -- both of our NTs (Logan & Miller) will be free agents, if they trade Smith we'll only have ONE QB on the entire roster, Spiller and Escobar will be gone and Zach Fulton's departure will rob of us of quality OL depth across the board. DJ has probably already been replaced with Wilson/Ragland, but Hali will leave a huge hole at OLB, and we still need WR talent.

So now we're down three picks (1st/5th/7th) in a year where we're going to need a lot of cheap talent to staff this roster. And again, Cam Erving has just been horrid.

Maybe this team has the magic touch and can figure Erving out. As of now, I'm not a huge fan of the player or the price we paid.

Tamba, DJ and Alex won't be here next year.

I'm not really sure why anyone thought that was ever likely to be honest.

You're assigning WAY too much value to 5th and 7th round draft picks.

As previously noted, the Chiefs hit on four 5th round picks since 2006 - that's 21 seasons - and only two made an impact with the Chiefs in Brandon Carr and Tyreek Hill.

A 7th? Pfft. Those are generally used for kickers and punters. The Chiefs have a kicker and they'll likely sign a UDFA punter next year.

Just wait until we trade Alex Smith for a 1st and 3rd. Instant cap space and instant draft! :)

Smith - $17,000,000
Hali - $7,000,000
DJ - $8,000,000
Jah Reid - $3,200,000

$35,200,000

5ths and 7this are worthless. Also, I like this move now that Knowmo is obviously worried about it posting in here and Voyager doesn't like it.
