I still remember going to a friends' house in high school to watch this. We were really pumped up about the league.
What a disappointment that turned out to be. |
I give it a year. At least that’s better than the AAF
|
Guardians and Defenders sound too similar, as does Renegades and Roughnecks, Battlehawks makes no ****ing sense, and how come no NFL team has taken the name Dragons? I'd be a fan of a team named the Dragons.
|
Roughnecks is a good name for a Houston team. Plus they stole the old Oilers logo basically.
|
NFL Europe brought us some great players to the NFL... We may not have known about James Harrison, Dante Hall or Kurt Warner... I'm shocked the NFL doesn't embrace these leagues more and with the AFL last year, I'm shocked the contract system didn't lead to viability.

Returns in 3 1/2 weeks. Who are you rooting for?

New XFL kickoff rules in action. Would the NFL consider this?

I like the idea of the xfl. Hate the execution. We don't need large market replacement football. But a league that was 100% committed to great college markets like birmingham, Austin, Columbus, Orlando would do really well. The AAF could have been a decent league with a little more time, commitment to this idea, and with realistic expectations about what success looks like. They could easily make a killing with 15-20k fans per game.
