I think I'd trade a 2nd for him and the money you get from cutting Houston after the season would pay for a new deal for him. You save, what, is it $13m by cutting Houston? Is that right?

Yep. They're a Super Bowl team with a decent defense. A guy like Thomas on the back end makes them a serious contender.
