Not sure how one can get terribly wound up either way about a 5th rounder. |

I watch him play and wonder WTF Michigan was doing putting him over the guard as often as they did. The dude just closed in and broke down on Lamar !@#$ing Jackson and you thought to yourself "nah, let's just have him clogging up the interior..."? Just amazing work by the Chiefs scouting department to have done the homework on him at Central Michigan and not lost track of him. They knew he was being used incorrectly his SR year and brought him in for what he COULD do rather than ignoring him for what he was struggling with at Michigan. Really nice find by the team overall. I don't think this was actually a Veach pick though - my memory is that we had an area scout that was big on him and sold Daly on him and it was Daly that pounded the table for him. |

I wonder if he every truly had a chance to make this team at all. When you get knocked off the roster by an undrafted dude from the NAIA or wherever and then never even make the practice squad? Sheet - the guy was probably a dead man walking for the last 12 months. |

We used to get pressure and sacks from primarily the big money guys. Now pretty much all DL are getting upfield. |

I don't know what they saw in him in the first place. He wasn't particularly...anything.
Kind of reminds me as a KU basketball fan of Quentin Grimes. He showed up and did nothing particularly well. I couldn't and still can't figure out why he was rated so high. |

He was a 2nd-team All SEC player his junior year playing all over the line - standing up, DE, DT. He must have really made a bad impression - teams very rarely cut 2nd-round picks unless there's a big reason. |

I think ultimately he pissed off a brand new coaching staff and that was that. Guy gets a new lease on life and shows up so fat he gets hurt and then gets suspended because he's taking PEDs to shed the weight. That was the first impression he made on Brendan Daly...a former NE Patriot trusted lieutenant. Belichick known for freely issuing passes from his doghouse? I feel like Daly decided early on as this tub of **** was wheezing his way through conditioning drills that he had little use for him. |

Having a guy who considers himself some kind of talent 'guru' is how Scott Pioli's happen. A collaborative approach to the scouting department is absolutely essential. Nobody has the time to watch EVERYONE and frankly very few people have the raw expertise to truly understand what they're seeing. Gotta have a department you trust. Veach certainly deserves credit for surrounding himself with smart people, but those smart people deserve more credit than "ANOTHER VEACH SUCCESS STORY!!" as well... |

Someday, I hope we learn the story behind his epic demise although the story behind Shady's benching is far more intriguing, given his past success with Reid and Veach. It's still bizarre to me that one day, Shady's contributing and scoring touchdowns and the next, he's Persona Non Grata. Even Shady hasn't made a peep. |

He’s taken the talent Veach has provided and coached and schemed the **** out of them. Watch the twists and stunts that make blocking these athletes so much more difficult for opposing lines.... Toss in evolving LB blitz packages, with the best (Gay) yet to come.... |
