AirBNB is such a scourge. They drive rents up, but they also turn buildings into hotels right out from under the people who live there. Ours had the foresight to ban them before too many got in, but others in the area saw their buildings turned into flophouses for drunk spring breakers and club goers every weekend. AirBnB should kill itself.

KCs downtown is not scary by major city downtown standards imo. If you mainly frequent target parking lots in Olathe then yeah it’s a little more scary than that

I imagine they have but also they pop up in other places so come what may.

They've still been going on in that area. Sounds like last week the cops finally ticketed and impounded some vehicles. Thank God not only are those ****ing things annoying those idiots will hit other cars and drive off or if you're this family they shoot you:

Only time I felt uneasy downtown was when I went to the ATM at P&L took a bunch of cash and then walked down to Bazookas. Never know who saw me take the cash and go. Probably me just being paranoid.

I'm probably just too used to a Southwest US level of homelessness, but I mean.... are there any homeless people in downtown KC?

Then again, I walked by these couple blocks the other day on the way to overpriced restaurants two blocks away, so probably just not paying attention to one dude on the corner after a concert at TMobile Center, heh.

It is nothing like the problem is in other areas. Lots of people who are wondering around but they really do not bother many people it is more awkward than anything.

Actual camps come and go but are pretty out of the way for the most part.

Sounds like you were pretty brave to soldier on the way you did.

The other afternoon I walked by a homeless guy who was screaming racial slurs and obscenities at someone who probably didn't let them use the restroom or something dumb... dude backed off the sidewalk to let me pass and just kept screaming as he walked backwards across a fairly busy street.

And one night last week some homeless guy who I've walked past in the same spot several times was clearly pissed off at Jersey Mike's, because he kicked the glass door so hard I'm surprised he didn't break shit.... yelled something, then walked by me like it never happened.

So, I feel like KC is fine. LMAO

Guy did not even know you are a Chiefs Planet mod and are perfectly suited to deal with this situation. For you it is just a Tuesday.

Air bnbs are awesome. Have saved me probably ten thousand dollars since i travel alot. There are too many rules in place to ban them already. Free market, dont like em, buy and make one. Why should hotels be the only ones who can make a buck off travelers?

What makes you say that? It has been obvious this will happen for a while.

They call that "progress".

My opinion on the Royals Statement: (In regards to some of the questions in this thread)

Quote:

"We are excited to share that we have several leading locations under close consideration, both in downtown KC and close to it."
There may be a couple of options that are not what the fanbase expects. "close" can be a relative term. Don't get your panties in too much of a twist over downtown parking until the decision is final. The Royals have stated they are listening to the fanbase, and the downtown parking/traffic issue might be one that enough critisicm deters them from chosing.

Quote:

"the NFL draft, the KC Current's new stadium, the World Cup - and much more yet ahead. These developments, along with a new KCI airport terminal, are transforming our region."
I would not take this quote lightly. I would think the Royals have the resources and planning to make a new complex live by 2026 (World Cup). Perhaps that is aggressive, but one would think that is the goal.

Are the Chiefs interested in the property at Truman Sports Complex?

It would be very easy to think that obviously the Chiefs are interested and have plans to improve upon the Gameday experience at Arrowhead.
