The Chiefs averaged 7.8 yds/play against the Jaguars in November and led 27-10 with 5:30 left.

JuJu Smith-Schuster - 24 snaps
Kadarius Toney - 2nd week with team
Andrew Wylie - 25 snaps
Mecole Hardman - 0 snaps.
Frank Clark - 0 snaps.
Brandon Williams - 0 snaps.

Not. Worried.

Not sure Jax can do that. Last two games Jax has played (nationally televised games so I have watched) their O line has not really looked impressive. Unless Brown and Wylie just get absolutely dominated, we should score enough that Jax has a really hard time keeping up.

I agree completely on the first point, when we lose it's normally that we're losing in the trenches, and other mistakes like critical penalties or special teams gaffes become very costly.

On the second point, Jacksonville's defensive front is pretty good. It may be a draw because their o-line isn't special, but their front 7 is a cause for concern to a team that struggles with tackle play like we do.

Similar should happen here

This is a fair point. Looking at it from that perspective, if I'm a Chiefs fan and you replace us with one of those Pats teams from 2001-2018, I'm upset because I know a fisting is eminent.

This one should be like the Colts vs Patriots in 2014. Colts got hot and beat the Peyton-led Broncos in Denver, only to get smashed in Foxboro the next week by like 30 points.

They're going to be emotionally and physically flat, like a pancake

We still need to show up focused, but yeah we got this

I will say that the game earlier in the season should have little bearing. Weird stuff went down that game which isn't likely to be repeated:

-Jags missed a couple kicks
-Jags won the turnover battle 3-0 (4-0 if you consider the onside kick)
-Chiefs weren't called for a single penalty

the Jags had 35 sacks

their front isn't scary

who are you worried about? josh allen? arden key? chiefs handled those guys like they were nothing.

Kelce said as much in 2019 or 2020, IIRC... the dog days of Fall and just wanting to get another sniff of the playoffs.

I thought the difference was night and day against the Raiders.... they knew what was on the line and opened up the playbook a but and cleaned up the mistakes; flipped the switch. And yeah, the Raiders suck, but so did the Texans and Broncos.

and it's not one of the coldest games ever at Arrowhead and we don't have the "kicker"...

Shit, let's not forget they would've lost - at HOME - to the Titans with their 3rd string QB, if not for a fluke defensive TD at the end (thanks to said trashcan at QB).

I actually like the Jags. I picked them to make the playoffs before the year. But they are NOT on the Chiefs' level. Just two completely different stratospheres. Someone put it really well a handful of posts ago - if the Chiefs show up, the only difference in opponent is margin for error. The Jags will give us a decent margin for error in case we are a bit rusty, or even if we have a couple dumb turnovers. Clean game and it's not close at all.

Chris Meck 01-16-2023 09:44 AM

I'm not saying we should be scared, but the Jags team we played earlier in the year is not the same team that finished the season.

That game has little bearing on this one.

Of course, KC is different as well, and has so much play-off experience that I can't see the Jags winning or anything like that, but Jax was a different squad the second half of the year.

I've watched their last several games, and I think their front is playing well. It's probably stuff that doesn't show up on your stat sheets. I didn't say I was worried, either. Just that their front is pretty good.

O.city 01-16-2023 09:50 AM

Be careful what you say about Josh Allen, he's gonna be a Chief next year.

I don't know. I think the Jags had already turned the corner by then. They were losing rather than winning close games (and that's mostly luck as we saw with Minnesota).
