I suspect they will be running commercials as well right? I mean they would have too wouldn't they? I mean the breaks are built into the NFL game so they would get money from those as well.

Apparently Tirico and Collinsworth will be calling the Chiefs game on Saturday night and also the Rams/Detroit game on Sunday night.

Two games in one weekend.

My make a lot of money when you can make a shitload of money?

The people that are willing to pay for this... what do you think this helps? Does it make it better for us the consumer? There isn't one god damn thing about this that is better for the consumer. It is only better for the NFL and Peacock. You should be doing anything and everything to make this a complete bomb for them but I suspect most wont do it.

Hell, I will go as far as being sure not to buy any products that might get advertised on the stream I am going to be watching that I am not going to pay for.

Edit: **** the NFL and **** Peacock.

What's the alternative? Miss watching a Chiefs playoff game?

You can find streams that you don't have to pay for. Pay for a ****ing VPN instead of that shit and find a stream.

The only way it ends is to **** them over.

I'd much rather pay for this than have to pay for cable to get ESPN. I know that they're dual casting on ABC this year, but I've had to deal with that for MNF for years.

It's a good deal for NBC. Because NBC is paying a boatload for it the NFL makes money.

I guess we'll truly see the impact of the swifty bounce. Because now you're asking a group of predominantly younger people to either stay home on Saturday night and subscribe/pay for a sport they don't care about. Or go out to a place that may not want to pay to put this on TV. If all they care about is seeing Taylor cheering, they can see that on social media right after it happens.

I hate to make it about Taylor swift but it's the unique thing that makes this unlike any other playoff game. The NFL can pull in a mass audience of new viewers who become casual enough fans that maybe they watch a few more games or buy merch. But instead of getting maximum eyeballs on the game they want to restrict viewership and milk more money from a select few. And I get that the NFL can do this because people will get angry and just go back to the NFL anyway, but it's not always good business to dick over fans. The opposite effect - people may not give up their loyalties but it can absolutely piss off avid fans enough that they might care just a little bit less.

So yeah, big win for NBC. Big financial win for the NFL. But I just dont buy that it's overall good for the NFL.

If we all illegally stream and they get no new subscriptions they will not want to pay 110 million for it next time.

redfan 01-08-2024 10:04 AM

The game will be broadcast OTA by ch 41. Get a good antenna, and you should be able to pick it up in the surrounding areas.
I'm just south of Platte City, and sometimes I can get a Kentucky station even though I've got nothing special for an antenna.

Par for the course in our nickel and dime society. It is curious though that Peacock would go this route when the trend is that more Americans are cutting more of these nickel and dime you to death services.

I don't know if I will get Peacock or go on about my life and catch the highlights later. But one thing is for certain, I won't be spending $9 on a cup of dessert coffee or buying $10 socks only to wear them mismatched while watching the game.

**** that. Don't watch by yourself, being the only Chiefs fan there.Watch it locally with your fellow Chief fans. No money involved.

Most chapters will have more than 50 Chief fans and probably 75% will have over a 100 Chief fans.
